What do you think? What was your favorite part of episode one? How many episodes do you think there will be. Do you find this valuable?

F*** that ending.

It was COMPLETELY random.

AND it had NOTHING almost to do with the book.

AMC is wandering away from the book. Shane was dead by this point in the book. Do you find this valuable?

Daryll still my favorite character.

Honestly in regards to being loyal to the book I truly don't see the point in the show (or any show for that matter) parroting the book. If it did there would be little point in watching it.

Yeah...it kinda did. In the book, Carl SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER gets shot by Otis while hunting..

But, either way, I don't think it's really trying to stay close to the book. I actually do like that it's going in a different direction. It lets us see something new.

In regards to Ep 1 of S2, I really liked it. I found S1 to be pretty slow for the most part; it feels like they've picked up the pace a lot for S2.

Who'd the kid get shot by? Would that actually happen? I thought the bullet would stop before it went through and through...? Do you find this valuable?

In the book, he got shot by Otis, a character not introduced yet. As to it going all the way trough, it's possible provided the bullet didn't hit any bones.

I always thought all the vitals you had to hit for a clean kill were protected by bone?

"I always thought all the vitals you had to hit for a clean kill were protected by bone?"
Nope, Only the ribcage. It also depends on
1. How powerful the cartridge
2.The distance the shot was fired from
3. The type of bullet ( more chance of a through&through with an FMJ)
4. whats its velocity when it strikes..etc..etc

I had a through and through last year as a matter of fact. Shot the deer in just about the perfect spot, from about 50 yards out. 30-06 with a 160 grain soft point, mushroomed nice ( deduced this from size of exit wound, almost 2 inches) but never hit a bone.

Just an addendum: movies and tv series rarely follow books very closely. Usually the are a lot of changes for production reasons, cost, and time restrictions.

They are. In every deer I have shot the bullet tumbles as soon as it hits flesh and exits at a low velocity or stays inside.

Seemed to be a FMJ or artistic license either one that was just weird. Is the little girl dead?

Overall this episode had me very pleased.

Was anyone else thinking WTF with that ending though? It went from kodak moment to *BANG*. I actually think it was Derryl's brother that may have had somthing to do with it. It's kinda obvious.
Dixon went missing halfway through season one.
Truck was stolen.
Darryl and merle both know those woods very well.
He's also known for shooting off his rifle without a care.
I think he'll be comming back with a rival group; which would be SO cool. The drama between the two brothers rivaling would be phenominal.

Did anyone else notice how quiet glen was? He barely spoke the whole episode.

What about Tdog? That wound looked pretty bad; think he might have got zombie blood in it?

I think it was kinda dumb to leave Dale and Tdog by themselves where all the supplies are. I have a hunch they get into some kind of trouble.

I feel for Shane though. The situation he's in sucks.

Im really liking Darryl's character, but glen was cool too.

"Tank Post #18"
If it was Merl it would take a rediculous level of spinning to make it click.

I mean he escapes one handed.
Steals their truck without knowing it would be there in the first place.
MIA somewhere while the other people go to the CDC.
Is still MIA during the events at the CDC and does not know wether they will leave or not if he was present.
MIA during the events on the road.
MIA during the events in the woods.
Then (speculation) takes his shot one handed at the only person almost guaranteed to not shoot back after sneaking around 2 groups of people.

That's a bit of a stretch. Personally I'm leaning towards accident maybe.
