Zombies: A Living History, a new History channel show
Oct 17 2011, 6:10 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 17 2011, 6:10 PM EDT
Premieres: October 25, 8pm ET

The special details how Europe’s Black Plague became one of the most prolific periods for myths and legends about zombies, explores why Viking legends believed zombies were nearly indestructible except by decapitation or immolation; examines other zombie legends from around the world, including secret stories of China’s Terra Cotta Warriors and the voodoo rituals of Haiti; and shows how modern science added a whole new twist on zombies beginning with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

What’s It All About? Although it seems like zombies are a recent phenomenon that has grown out of comic books, movies and TV, there actually is a long history of zombie legends from the dawn of civilization to today, and this two-hour documentary explores that history.

That's actually pretty cool. It's actually scientifically proven that somthing recently killed can infact be reanimated.

Maybe there's some sort of... Grain of truth to this whole thing.

Friends of mine over at Zombie Squad Chapter:001 will be on the show. Here's hoping History doesn't make them look like the wacky people on previous prep shows. Do you find this valuable?

Then they better be very careful =-_-= I swear, the history channel needs to return to history and leave out the weird conspiracy theories, and none of that retarded "Stone age people couldn't possibly work stone without the help of aliens" stuff. How else could the moai have been built, and lord knows only some truly alien logic could justify traveling across the galaxy to make primates build stone statues only to leave them, return centuries later, anal probe them to learn of their progress and disappear again. =O_o= 0  out of 1 found this valuable. LOL - Yeah, you'd really think that any alien race advanced enough to have mastered interstellar travel would have better things to do with their time, no?

As someone who is happy to stretch the definition of zombie, I tend to notice when others are doing it. I can do it precisely because I'm a private individual (or a tin-foil hat, hippy lunatic if you prefer) I have to try to prove my arguments and don't speak the the authority claimed by a major TV station. I don't rely on a smooth voice over, slick editing or dramatic background music etc.

Sound like more 'Jesus was an astronaut' stuff to me but I guess we'll see.

What proof are you talking about? Not that hoax reanimation story that Snopes debunked is it?

Better things to do?!? You dare question the ones in the sky!? Oh Aliens, forgive this simpleton, for he knows not what he does! Its just that our lowly understanding does not permit us the wisdom to grasp at the complexity and the necessity of your omni-creative decorating schemes. We were drab but through you're omni-wondrousness we have learned to be fab!

Only thing that made me roll my eyes was that bit about meleeing zombies.

That tricks seems like it would knock something onto you rather than away.
