Hey guys, was just sat here at my computer and I was wondering how big a factor fitness is for you and what you do to stay in shape/ improve your fitness?for example I: -Do Parkour once a week or more from 9am to 5pm. -Go to my school gym and work on upper body strength and sometimes Parkour in the gymnastics room next door. -cycle/run everywhere I go (unless I'm socialising with friends in which case I walk). -Go on a morning jog 2/3 mornings a week with my friend. -occasionally hike or go swimming. -workout in my bedroom at home before bed. I think you have raised a very good point. I heve noticed that many people have not/are not paying much attention to or factoring in to there plans physical fitness. Many people list a huge shopping list of guns ammo & neat survival gear but put little thought into lugging it around (once cars become useless which will be quite soon after a full out break). Also when it comes to their consideration of what to do when faced with a zombie they dont take into account the physical exertion it will take to fight one or two off. ask your self this how long could you keep singing your bat (or what ever), ducking & diveing out of the way as well? Personaly i put alot of stock into fitness & belive it is a key eliment to survival. I my self train three nites a week at an Mixed Martial Arts club, have one nite weight training & run on another nite. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

My current apartment complex has a weight room. I work out in the morning instead of having that first cigarette now. It is quite nice, feeling good from working out instead of knowing I'm just giving into the cravings. Two birds with one stone... Do you find this valuable? |

Truth be told, since having moved to Texas I've really dropped the ball on my workout routine. It's nowhere near as convenient here, as we're miles away from a good gym or dojo, and it's an unnecessary expense for Maricely and me.I do a bodyweight workout a couple of time a week when I get bored during the day, but this is hardly as challenging and beneficial as my old powerlifting and Strongman workouts. There are also few places to hike around here as well. Once we get onto firmer footing, I will definitely start taking my workout stuff more seriously. Do you find this valuable? |

It's by a guy "Matt Fury" It's all body weight resistance exercises, you can build mass off of them too. There's a lot of stuff int here that I had never thought of. Just an idea. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I been slacking off too as of late. Not really much of an excuse just because I have a couple of blisters lol. I gotta get back at it. Do you find this valuable? |

Right now, as it's cross-country season, I've only been running, but as soon as it's over and my two-week rest period is up (States is on Saturday, and that's as far as my team will go. Good that we've made it this far, though), I'm hitting the floor and pullup bar. I am a firm believer in not using weights, except my B.O.B, in training. My goal is to move my body, so my training will be using my body. There's an awesome website I found with tons and tons of fitness articles called "www.stewsmith.com." I get a lot of my workouts from there, like the pyramid sets and ten-day long "pushes" that you should do every 6 mos. or so (They're too intense to do more often then that). This winter I will be running like a demon so I can break 5:15 for my mile this year (Maybe even 5 . . . Gotta keep my fingers crossed!), swimming recreationally at the local YMCA, working out, and climbing at least once a week with my dad. I'm also doing a triathlon this summer (Not many can say they've done a triathlon at age 16) with one of my cross-country buds, so that, among a lot of other things, is my motivation to keep moving. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I'm in the middle of a long physio session to sort out some old injuries from when I played hockey. Trigger-point therapy, it sucks, but it works. My trainer says that we can start working in the gym in a week or two, and hopefully I will hit my first goal by this April. It will suck even worse than the therapy, apparantly. But I will hopefully win my bet, and be in decent shape for any disaster. Do you find this valuable? |

I need to get back on the ball, or else I'll end up losing the gains that I've made to this point. I've got access to a good-sized pool, and lots of running space... maybe with that book, I can construct a good workout routine and get my sh!t together again. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. We have a bowflex which I use from time to time.In my room I take my gear bag often and put it on my back. Then I do squats, pushups, sometimes suicides in my backyard, those are great for cardio; endurance muscles and agility. I can litterally wear my bag on my back for 8 hours and not notice it. My area doesn't have much for any real parkour, I'd have to travel for that. I have a track right behind my place, though so I jog and practice some speed running. I figure it would be best to be able to get away from things really fast. There's some football goalposts outside too so they're great for pullups and stuff. I read another post that mentioned archery. Archerys been my thing since I was young. The more upper body strength you have, the easier it is to fire an arrow. It takes practice but once you get the technique down, it can be quite accurate. Do you find this valuable? |
