Barricading Supplies/Weapons

Okay, so I've been thinking about improvised weapons, which lead me to think about improvised barricades. My home is /not/ the ideal fortress, but if I got some pots and pans, my antique .410 single barrel (inherited), shovel, knives, nightstick/baton, and hatchet for weapons, I could cover barricading most of the house with duct tape, cabinet doors, drawers, furniture, and whatever else to improvise barricades.

I could even tear legs off chairs and sharpening them, sticking sharpened sticks, etc. in places as simple traps, maybe even weakening the floor in places as a traps. Drill/stab small holes in doors to look through and to stab long, pointed things through at any oncoming zombies. I would have to cardboard and styrofoam up the windows to conceal any light or shadows.

I would of course use the phone and computer to contact anyone I could, particularly family, and I would probably only bug in until the panic was over. Soon I'm getting a better gun, so that will be a great help to the plan.

So, let's disscuss bug-in plans, weapons we have at home that we would defend a barricade with, and improvised barricade materials, shall we?

EDIT: I forgot to mention grabbing all my canned goods.

If I was you I would forget about the duct tape. If your home is two stories I would move everything possible to the 2nd floor and destroy the stairs. I wouldn't be killing anything as if the Z's wind up stacking up under the destroyed stairs they could begin climbing up to you. You need a better firearm.

I know that...I'm just looking for one now...and trying to scrape up the cash. I tend to end up selling my weapons...

I have a few idea's I just need time to draw up some sketches get pictures and links so that they are easier to understand :) watch this space.

first of all, mattresses.
a thick extra comfy spring mattress with absorb ALOT of blunt damage and as long as when it is fastened it is not too taut, it will be a pain to cut through. (with manual tools, power tools are a different matter all together)
