Hey, just a little piece of advice for the OP.

Call of Duty/Battlefield/Medal of Honor are not real life. I'm sorry, I know it's a dissapointment, but they aren't real. Real disasters don't come with C4, claymore's and bouncing betties as part of the standard loadout.

How about this: if, after repeated warnings by people "in the know", you STILL decide to build land mines... please have someone record it, and send me the vid. So instead of wasting brain power on the discussion, I can just link them the video. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Land Mines? Land mines are area denial weapons...Besides availability issues, a person requires training for placement, arming and dis-arming...I would not suggest a layman play with mines...I've seen trained professionals injure and kill themselves handling mines. Land Mines= BAD IDEA!!! Do you find this valuable?

You know, the longer this drags out, and as many related as I have seen already in my year or so here... I have changed my stance on home-made explosives.

I now ENCOURAGE anyone who thinks they are adequately versed in explosives, to go right ahead with it. As long as they're not part of my group, I say "go for it". I think the world is lacking in "natural selection" when it comes to us humans now.

If humanity's going to have a run for it's money, we might as well strengthen the gene pool. Bring on the "Darwin Awards" and let the pieces fly! Viva la humanity!
hahaha

Genetic manipulation through people who are silly enough to blow themselves up. The smarter ones will refrain from exploding, thus being smarter, and of more use to the human race...lmao

Because an ounce of high explosive can't kill or injure you right? Is that like how a .22 can't kill you, or how just a small nick to the artery can't leave you bleeding out?

I find myself agreeing with Loki, if you really wish to persue explosives in a home setting with zero real experience, or a grasp of english for that matter, go ahead. Prove Darwin and clean the shallow end of the gene pool one "watch this" at a time.

mix 2 parts carbon with 3 parts sulfer in sulfiric acid and boil the acid away (if i remember it rihte)

According to him, this makes C4.

Ok, I hate to stray off the topic, but am I the only one here who cringes in agony anytime Bomber99 posts a reply?

But as far as explosives go, I cant help but to agree with everyone in here (besides bomber99). Messing around with high explosives may sound cool in theory, (i mean blowing stuff up is always cool) but in practice you will most definitely do more harm to yourself and your group. Plus finding high military grade explosives would be frickin hard. At best you may get away with makeing a pip bomb and even then i know a few body's who got pretty messed up thinking it would be fun to fill some quarter inch PVC with gun powder.

pretty sure that just makes sulfur dioxide and a mess. Every industrial explosive used in the United States has one common ingredient and NONE of them are listed here.
RDX, PBX, DetaSheet, Detcord (PETN), Semtex, Comp B, Gun Cotton, TNT, Dinamite ect ect ect. all come from one chemical and that chemical is not something you are going to find in an apocalypse anyway so drop it. ITS A MUTE DISCUSSION!

The common consensus here is correct - explosives are definitely dangerous, and shouldn't be played with. The fact that bothers me most is that a child could get a hold of this misinformation and blow themselves (or someone else) up.

Kids, making bombs or landmines is a great way to kill yourself, or burn your house down. Use your best judgment. When it seems like a bad idea, ask a responsible adult before you do anything.
