Outside Rochester NY

Hey i live in a suburb outside Rochester. I live about 10 houses down from a small army reserve training building. And i know what you are thinking. An army base this guy is stupid. But it is really not a base. It is only open on weekends and when it is it only has about a few reserve members. So if the outbreak happens on a week day ,me and my group of 7 will jump on it and have control. The good thing about this place is it is in a very set back area in town. Also its small size and lack of any major weapons, supplies , or vehicles will make it unwanted by any military. It is a full brick building with very few windows. Also it has a pretty big yard around it and is fenced in by a steel chain link fence with razor wire. Me and my 2 housemates already have enough provisions to last a little while and if our other 4 friends and family can come through on their side with some provisions then you should plan on us being there. For the first week or so we will not be letting anyone in except for some extreme cases (as we will be waiting for the chaos to die down). After the 2nd week we will be allowing people in in rare cases (ZSDW members, close friends or family, something to bring to the table etc.) and will continue like this for a month or so and after that we will just plan it by year. 4  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

RJ i live in Syracuse and if your talking about the same base i am then that would either be the Rochester National Guard Armory or the Airbase in Mattydale NY. I would not recommend attempting to take either of these two bases as they are both manned 24/7 to spite the fact that you don't see much activity. The Armory is home to quiet a nice arsenal of weapons which is used to stock the local national guard units in case of emergencies. This means that there will be adequate staff to provide security for said weapons. The reserve Air base in Mattydale is not a better option considering the fact that it is even more populated. My source on this is the fact that i grew up in the Mattydale area and was able to observe the base on a daily basis and that after i put four years into the Marine Corp i migrated out to the Rochester area and put in some time with the guard unit out there as an armorer. Questions

1.HOW ARE you gonna jump the base.Just how

2.You expect these people not to be on the edge if they know an infection has started in NY!?Their gonna be likely to shoot on sight

3.You know alot of other people may have the same idea thus leading zombies there...

Just pointing these out there.

So....

Lets get away from the storm the chain link fence idea and move over to the idea that it really is abandoned. What is it about it that makes it good? The surrounding fence sounds nice, but since the place is abandoned how did that come about? Is that fence still intact? if it isn't how do you repair it, or just block the holes? Is that fence all the place has going for it?

both bases in the area are in good repair and manned, so the whole abandoned thing is a moot point. I work across from the Mattydale base and drive past the Rochester base on my way out to hunt in the area. The walls around the Mattydale base are stone and mortar about 8 foot high with an entrance along a road (Molloy ave) which is 4 lanes across with a gate, barracades, and guard house. This would essentially make it difficult to defend due to the fact that there is no gate (other than a vehicle bar) to keep pedestrians out. Other than moving the baracades and driving some 5 tons in front of the gap i cant see a solution to this problem. The rochester armory has an 8 ft high chain link with razor wire. Great for keeping out people not so great for a horde of zeds who im sure can eventually push down a chain link by sheer wait alone. If not we still have the problem of the entrance which is similar to the mattydale base.
