A full blown Z-Con probably won't happen anytime soon. First of all, our membership is spread out across the globe, so picking a location is pretty tough. Second, a lot of our membership is either too young or unable/unwilling to make a long-distance trip to meet up with otherwise complete strangers. Third, I think that some of our members enjoy the veil of anonymity too much to actually meet someone the site. There's more to it than that, too, including expense, liability concerns, and the fact that some folks have unrealistic expectations of what a ZSDW meet-up would actually be.That being said, some of us have met up in the past, and it's been awesome to make friends with like-minded folks from the ZSDW. I've made a few lasting friendships with folks here, and I hope to make more in the future. Do you find this valuable? |

I suggest that if you're interested in networking with area survivalists, look in other online forums. ZS is pretty widespread, maybe that's a good start. There are plenty of general survival sites out there too.If you live in a big city, your chances of living near someone else here at the ZSDW are drastically higher. Use your judgment though - bring a buddy or two, keep your cell phone charged and meet in a public place with lots of people around. Starbucks or a burger joint might be a good start. I say this because not everyone who visits our site is an upstanding, law-abiding member of society. Do you find this valuable? |

The first time Jbarlocker and I met, we drove to the middle of the desert with a few different guns and shot at rabbits. And don't make me tell the story of the first time we met in person LJ. Looking back.......that does seem a little reckless doesn't it? Do you find this valuable? |
