Ok so thay have tin dust bullets.(or composite bullets)Thay well go into you head and not come out the other side.A hit from one any were will kill you.So my idea is to grow bamboo grind it add wheat paste to it and load like a normal round. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

He's talking about trying to make a composite ammo out of wheat paste and ground up bamboo. It wouldn't work. Do you find this valuable?

making ammo out of bamboo and wheat
That is not how it works.
When you go to highschool you will learn about energy, explosives, and general chemistry to be able to understand why that would not work. Try to google it if you really want to know.

The most basic explaination i can think of is that explosives have to have their own oxygen supply to, well, explode.
Bamboo and wheat do not

OP is talking about making a composite projectile not a propellent and considering that door breaching rounds are made of compressed copper dust I wouldn't be so quick to discredit his idea. I just don't see why you would do this if you can just fill a 12ga with rocks.

oh i see, tnx for the explaination

But IMHO, you will run out of explosives and everything else much before than you run out of projectiles

Yea, but most guns use explosives as propellent as far as i know.

It is possible and can be used, BUT

Mythbusters tried it and failed, so unless you can make some good black powder now, i wouldn't bet on it later, especially because it needs some materials you may not have access to

Bullets made with powder metallurgy have enough hardness and mass to penetrate effectively. Compressed bamboo and Wheat just wouldn't have the mass you need, and Wheat would not be nearly effective enough as a binding agent.

I don't care if it's what is used in motors on the 4th of July. I don't feel like it would survive the trip down the barrel. You'd be better off just holding the bamboo together with hide glue or resin, both of which would probably foul the barrel of your weapon.

Neglecting the issue with projectile durability. Let's say that it does make it down the barrel and to the target, it doesn't have enough mass to overcome the air resistance. Unless you were at dead point blank, the projectile wouldn't have any kinetic energy.

"you do know the difference between a propellent and an explosive right?"
You can't really make a big deal out of this epic.

Explosive: a reactive substance that contains a great amount of potential energy that can produce an explosion if released suddenly

Propellent: Something, such as an explosive charge or a rocket fuel, that propels or provides thrust.
