Okay, say you have enough resources and enough manpower to make an attempt at speeding the process of eradicating zombies from the Earth, what would be the best way to go about doing this? Do you find this valuable?

You mean put in control of tens of thousands of people, millions of bullets at our disposal and a few hundred thousand people behind the front lines sorting out food, clothing, manufacturing, etc?

Much as described in WWZ. First you need a safe zone where you can regroup, defend and live. This is cleared, stable and productive. Then you simply expand that perimeter, ensuring that every square foot is zombie free.

Wide open spaces would be easy to clear, but the key is to avoid overstretching the perimeter. Ideally you keep the front line as short as possible, and only have one front line. Use the terrain to your advantage, and make natural borders and defences work for you.

Techniques? Much as in WWZ, drawing the zombies out into the open with noise seems like a viable tactic. Firing lines akin to the movie Zulu to ensure constant barrages, "Sandlers" to keep ammo fresh. Really, WWZ could be a good blueprint for taking back a country.

Where I am, the homestead will be fortified with a barbed wire out line and a hardened house. About half a mile away is a cell tower that we will put a crows nest into as a lookout. The homestead is visable from the nest and the nest is visable from the homestead. Also, the nest overlooks the two local roads on the front (the back is towards us, so draping colored towels will be invisable to the road but very clear to us).

So, if zed shows up at the homestead, we can signal and have the nest pick them off with one of the .308s. Then when zed lets off our defences and heads towards the nest, we can follow and pick/dragass them back to the homestead. Wash, rinse, repeat.

If zed is really after flesh, hunting is more an issue of taking them out as they come to you. A dozen guys with deerstands could hold a sizable streach of woodland.

Of course, as your group expands and thrives, you will want to expand - but clearing new areas is more of a military exercise than hunting.
