RVE in Northern VA- Prince William County

Should Z-day ever come, and should I survive the Panic, I will be allocating a RVE along I-95 South Exit Ramp 168B (Mannassas). There will be a bright red rock about the size of one's head located on either side of this exit ramp. There will be two yellow circles spray painted on each side of the ramp. The rock will already be placed and waiting in the center of one of them. There may already be a note underneath it with these same instructions, if my group has needed to move deeper west there will be a note with further instructions to get to the newer RVE. To commence communication, move the rock to the parallel yellow circle on the other side of the ramp. Leave a note under the rock with your name, how many are in your party, and anything of significant interest, if you could prove valuable to our group, know any skills such as CPR or first aid, or any valuable information, or resources to spare. Also if you have any children, elderly people, pregnant women or sick/injured, so my group can be better prepared to accommodate you.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. This is my first thread here. I've put much thought into Z day and hopefully I will not see it in my lifetime, but I am confident I will be prepared.
Do you find this valuable?

Just becareful going along I-95, its always a madhouse on a normal day. Personally I live in Stafford County so your just a stone's throw away really. Also is this rock already there?...more importantly, i'm not sure if you should spray paint it.That I think would draw too much attention, you want something that us on the site could recognize, but not the average joe. You dont' want the wrong people to find your group, especially if your not armed. Otherwise its a good Idea methinks. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I concur with this, but how regularly will it be checked?

Yeah, at the same time only people on this site would understand the significance of the rock, and the circles. I have rocks. And red spray paint. And yellow spray paint. The RVE isn't within the immediate vicinity of my BOL, but along my planned supply route. So I'm thinking we'd be checking it twice a week?

I'd think the red spraypaint would be good, its lower impact so anyone whose not looking for it will probably not notice it and move on. Also keep watch for anything suspicious, if people use your dead drop to follow members back to your BOL (just me being slightly paranoid, but ya never know)

there are several important rules to remember when conducting a dead drop. for instance,
1. the person checking the dead drop should not return to the main camp but instead have a remote campsite that you can see the dead drop area from.
2.you should use at least 3 markers to form a code for a dead drop so that it cant be used by anyone outside of the circle.
3. the person checking the dead drop should have eyes on him at all times to prevent him from being captured and turned or used.

I can go more into spycraft if need be. just send me a message if you would like to know more.

Thumbs up to this. I'll have to let our friends in Herndon know. I'm too close to Baltimore to be able to make it down there, most likely, but if I can/do, I'll definitely try and make it to your Rendezvous. (RVE). Do you find this valuable?
