I am also newbie in this contagious outbreak. So here is my survival plan. Don't forget to correct through reply if i am wrong or making serious problem that can get myself killed. 1. Get home immediately if not already. I don't carry firearms because I'm Malaysians. before outbreak Malaysians is illegal to carry any type of firearms all of them are civilians unless have gun license. Perhaps this outbreak also the opportunity to carry firearms. 2 Once I am in home, my parent should be at home. If not, probably there is traffic jams or something similar to them. if I am bit suspicious about my parent taking too long time to get back home. I must fortify my home with everything available and also fill the water in sink and bucket before utility get blackout, and rely on my brother (underage compare to my age). if they not help, convince them. If they are too lazy to help. probably they deserve to be a zombie meals anyway (in my heart) 3. If getting surrounded , I should lock the gate in front of my house since it will slow down the maggots . i brought my parent (if they were there ) and my brothers to get out and pray to God that my brothers are fast enough, or not. i help them. if they get bitten, sorry brothers, there is no restart button here in real life outbreak. 4. head to every potential bases of operation for fortification, farming, gardening, scavenging etc. since ranged weapons are critical for zombie killing machines. perhaps go to local authorities even head to the military camps, barracks , armory depot, and others. The first part of your plan (getting home, working with parents) isn't bad, but the latter part (getting weapons from the government) simply isn't feasible. Anyone who actually has those weapons would likely shoot anyone trying to take them. Also, you need to work out the details of being a "self sustainable guy." What does that entail? Welcome to the site. And noticed your a Malaysian youth. So there will be at times cultural and language issues. Dont worry with effort it can be over come like your plan. 1) Finding a some what remote area in a over populated country will be difficult. So maybe finding a stone, brick, concrete building to use. Now that might mean joining another group and or working with some military personel. You need as strong ans securable location because the numbers factors will almost completely crush normal bamboo or wood constructed homes/buildings. 2) Defenses. Again with these numbers of people there will lots of Zeds to fight off. So building obsticles be they concrete barriers, cars, stakes, barbed wire, ditches, or what ever you can quickly build and fix/clean of bodies and damages. You need to channel the attackers/Zeds to selected locations for easier and safer killing. 3) Weapons. Unless you just find weapons while relocating to a safe location dont attempt to scavange without a large group of other armed survivors. Getting bitten for a weapon you dont know how to use yet will not be good. Swords, machetes, large knives, clubs, axes, piece of pipe opr iron rod. Find something until its safer to get more and better weapons. Guns are nice but if you dont know how to use it let someone show you. Now if there arent any others to terach you, then be careful and keep the barrel popinted away at all times from you and other survivors. Then be real carefull went learning you cant hurt/kill you and/or your family. -coninued- Post reply Do you find this valuable?

So rain coats and thick clothing will help with a mask or something covering your mouth and nose. Glasses and goggles will also help keep it from the eyes. This might be real hot so be carefull and dont over protect because then it will slow you down and make fighting or fleeing more dangerous and hard. 5) Water and food. Try and learn how to raise animals and crops. There shouldnt be a shortage of people with farming knowledge where your from. Packl some light food that can be kept/stored for months or longer. And keep it fresh and switch with new when ever possible. Get some purifing tablets or straw or some system. Or you could learn to boild and sand filter. But clean water on a regular basis will be a must. Now read other threads on BOBs and BOLs and Survival plans on this site. There will some usefull info there also check out melee weapons and armor threads for your requirements. But remember the military isnt always bad or good. Just be careful and dont put all in the same good/bad group. Some might even help you and your family if you help their family. Its all an unknown factor. But planning on fighting any military is almost a 100% loosing idea and to do this during a Zed outbreak will be suicidal. About your plan, One thing I would not worry about is the military. The idea here is to survive. Worrying about getting weapons from potentially dangerous areas is always a bad idea. As far as the Military itself, it will probably ,in the case of any type of apocolypse, Suffer higher casualties that the civilian populace because of the nature of what they will be doing. I would initially worry about water and food supplies that you can store for long term. 5 gallon jugs of water, treated to keep them safe. Dehydrated foods that can be store for long terms... Both of these can be rotated out every few months or so ( depending on their storage life) to keep them fresh and consumable. Next is simple medical and firstaid supplies, bandages, antibiotic ointments, etc. then a way to baracade or keep yourself and family safe from the intitial panic. Then plans to move away from your initial point to a location that you can produce foodstuffs to feed your family and keep them safe. I'm also somewhat new to this site, i started a zombie survivalist/prepper group and this has been so helpful.
