Hello zombi and zombetes of the world! I am William and I am 13 I live in a small town and want to survive if a zombie apocalypse, civil war etc. And to live I need help I am 13 and don't know much about building and defences (I cant get firearms darn Canada) so I need your help telling me what I need whats a good place to build a base if my places I have in my mind is a good place and etc. Ok lets start

Town; City of ??? (what to find out where I live stalkers? TOO BAD)
Area: It is in a rainforest on the west coast on a island in British Columbia
Ways Into Town:
Car: Only one bridge to get in.
boat: lots of docks and can come by ferry.
Plane: Sea plane and Air-plane only one of each

House: A 2 story house with a basement and attic. Backyard surrounded by wooden fence. Has a deck on 2nd. Basement gets floods sometimes from rain (its a rain forest remember) floods are rare but do get up to knee level of a baby when it is not noticed in time also is used as a daycare for babies. 2nd floor has entry to attic on 2nd floor.

Attic is unknown because never been up there ( when I do I will tell you )

Barricades: I have none im 13 also my parents would go "WHAT THE @#$% ARE YOU DOING!?!?!" if they saw me building a barricade around our house XD Would like to know a good material to build one when I find a base.

Base Ideas.

House:

Old Bomb Shelter (In case the town ever got bombed. Cool huh?)

Islands near town (I doubt I will never get that though XD)

Supply:

A Coghan's Survival Kit bought from Supply Sargent for 29.95
Contains
Survival Guides, 2 Fire Sticks, 2 Razor Blades, A Needle, A Signal Whistle, A notepad, a 1-5 hour candle, A Poncho, 4 Antiseptic pads, A spool of Thread, Salt Packet, http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/thread/4824765/13+Year+old+want+to+live+part+2 part2

Eh....
Just don't try it. You likely won't find any base or get any materials for fortifications.
Also with the survival tools you have, I doubt you'll be "surviving."

@Superking890,

Bring up survival prep to your parents with real world disasters being the main topic. Forget bringing up zombies unless you want to spend Tuesday afternoons at the Shrink's office for the next couple of months.

You're thirteen. You're main worries should be centered around getting good grades in school.

TR always beats me to the good advice. QQ

Like he said, you're thirteen. Get good grades, because if the Z-poc -doesn't- happen in the next decade, those will help a lot more. And if it does, then at least having some education, and knowing -HOW- to learn, will be very important.

Second, you don't want to label yourself 'that guy.' Trust me, from experience, it's a difficult uphill battle, and unless you're ready to fight society every step of the way, it's easier to...be cautious who you expose some of your stranger eccentricities to. I'm not saying to change who you are, or to drink the Kool-Aid, but just keep the stranger parts of who you are on the down low, as it will make life a little bit easier.

Just my two coppers, and they're not exactly shiny.

I applaud your desire to survive. Great going! But, Im sure you are also taking to heart the advice of Timberrattler and Zombat. Im also equally sure you dont want to give up just because you are young. Do not lose hope, there are some good institutions to whom you may safely avail yourself.

Boy Scouts of Canada (America, UK, and several other countries Im sure)
- focus on the appropriate merit badges
4H -It is a US organization, but there isnt anything to stop you from getting materials and following them on your own
JFAO - Similar to the US organization Future Farmers of America.
- while this is a bit off topic, these are still skills that will be needed post-Zday
Look around for clubs for hunting and archery, shouldnt be too hard to find them in BC.

Like Zombat says, keep the "Zombie" word to yourself. Even we adults do that mor often than not. However all of the above organizations are accepted by your parents, friends, church, and the general populace. They are so well accepted, that joining one will get you some very positive accolades.

I will re-stress TR's statement. You are 13, you need to be focusing on schooling. Joining Boy Scouts will even help out in that very important area of your life.

Dont give up, but do be smart about how you procede.

You have a great start on your survival kits. Take some time to search this site about Bug out Bags.

I do not have any ideas about stores in BC. But the internet has a ton of good places to get survival equipment.

Don't forget, getting equipped as a Boy Scout will also be getting equipped for Zday.

I say talk to your father about taking up hunting together, it gives you some experiance with firearms and is the easiest way to legally own firearms in Canada. Also you're gonna want to be able to hunt for food post Z-day.

Also stay in shape, stay in shape, stay in shape.

I'd say your young, never take your fitness for granted (this is for Z day and life my friend) keep yourself able to run miles at a decent pace because this will be useful if the zombie are either 28 days later-like or Day of the Dead-stye because you'd either outrun them or be able to move quickly and efficiently without need of cars or bikes. This bridge... my advice is on Z day you do your utmost to render this bridge useless by either barricading it (allowing you to evacuate) or destroy the bridge,if the island is separated by a sea then it would mean that your island would be 'quarantined'... if the island is in quarantine then you have longer to baracade your house (I'd still recamedn doing this as another islander may be infected or the virus may be airborne and infect someone them at a later date, just be aware mate thats all anyone could say to you, be aware and be safe, the best of luck mate and I'll see you on the other side :)

i think we should take a lesson from the american government now....

just a thought... but its a family story..

When my uncle got to the drinking age, they upped it to 19. when he got to 19, they upped it to 20. and the same thing happened a year later.

I think,.., we should do the same thing. up the site minimum age to 14, then in a year, to 15. might cut these pesky facepalms out for a few years until they have perspective... and have blown a few things up in their backyards xD

BTW .22 caliber weapons are very effective. every kid who wants to fight zombies should have a supportive dad that takes him squirrel hunting with a ruger.

and then makes him skin the damn thing when he kills it.

Having only one way into your town is good and bad. If an outbreak occurs near ur town across the bridge, your town can hold itself up on it. If they get pass, ur whole town is screwed and u wont get out that easily unless u got a boat Do you find this valuable?
