Best place to buy gear?
Jan 7 2012, 9:24 AM EST
Hello everyone, just a quick question: where is the best place (or website) to buy gear? And by gear I mean, bags, knives, survival equiptment etc. I'm really looking for value for money, as being a teenager, i have little income financially. Also, if said place could be in England (or be a .co.uk website) this would be tremendously helpful. Thanks, WaffleTom. Do you find this valuable? |

For as gear goes what do you have around your home? That would be the first step towards of gathering what you might need and you can save money now. Far as other gear. you really have to get out there online and in person because prices change and sales happen all the time. You can buy affordable cooking equipment built for camping at Wal-Mart. I do not know if you plan to be mobile or partially mobile. Your need may change according to purpose or mission. Good luck!

"www.cheaperthandirt.com is a good place. "I think shipping to the UK would really kill any savings CTD could offer. Waffle, put up a post asking for assistance from UK or Ireland based members, there are plenty on here. Do you find this valuable? |

Try amazon.com; as far as I know they ship anywhere. Surprisingly they have a TON of gear. I bought my favorite pocket knife and rifle scope from amazon. Do you find this valuable? |

I get most of my gear at Flea Markets , auctions , Good will / thrift stored and yard sales . To lesser amount gun showsThings like high quality packs and clothing can be picked up dirt cheap and often still in new condition. I have bought many really nice packs for $5- $10 that if you bought them in the store would be $150 + I look for surplus stuff as well , lots of service men return with gear and sell it at the flea market because they need money Of course you can get good older knives , axes and other tools on the cheap to at these places Lots of people buy this stuff new , never use it and then sell it at give away prices I actually make a pretty good living buying stuff like this and reselling it Do you find this valuable? |

http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/They got mostly German Flecktarn and British DPM clothing, packs, and gear up for sale. I know I saw another site that had a wider selection of military grade, but not issue, gear, but I'll have to hunt it down. EDIT: Found it: http://www.asmc.de/en/Gear/Military German site, but it's in English, and carries more than the site I just gave you. Do you find this valuable? |

Maybe try www.ukmcpro.com, they have a pretty decent selection, although not particularly cheap. Or www.Heinnie.com are similiar. Have used both in the past, good service, no problems.

I know the op specified gear other than food, but i thought this was a good thread to mention my findings the other day. I simply typed "wholesale food uk" into google and checked out the first couple of sites that came up. They sell and deliver bulk food and drink for pretty damn cheap (e.g. 20kg rice for less than £20) and pretty much most things you find in supermarkets. regarding swords and knives, www.blades-uk.com is a good site i'm considering buying a couple of swords from. Ebay is also very useful. I've bought a few "survival" things off there. Cheap and easy Do you find this valuable? |

I went to the Flea Market Sunday and was thinking about this thread. Being winter not as many people set up as you see in warm weather but still a pretty good turn out.I bought a like new Berghaus Crusder pack off a Mexican for $20. Was asking $25 and wasn't very easy to talk down but in the end I did. Inside had another small day pack which I don't think he even knew was in it. This a large and I think pretty high quality pack ,I knew it was an expensive pack befor I bought it , they list on the Berghaus site at well over $200, and that is why I paid the $20 Saw lots of good but not great packs for $5-$10 including a couple of ALICE packs but passed Bought a US Ponch for $5, I've got a bunch of them already but could always use more. A vietnam era one in nice condition I can sell for $75+ BTW If you needed tools there were lots, Good Axes, Shovels, crow bars and Bow saws were easy to find for $5 -$10 I bought a nice WWII RH PAL Combat Utility knife for $15 and passed on lots of other knives. Guy was selling old butcher knives for $3 but I don't need any more Did buy a WWII Gasoline stove for $5, the small one that packs inside a can. Always lots of Coleman stoves and lanterns at a flea market with most priced under $10 and would be handy to have..I have way to many so didn't buy any more Only saw one gun, single shot 12 ga. the guy wanted $65, I passed, sure don't need it and not enough room to make much if I sold it. Did talk to the seller and he has a sporter military rifle he told me he will bring me next week that i might be interested in. Lots of good heavy work clothing including surplus stuff too .Couple guys there sell mostly surplus but on most the prices are what I consider to be high though if you dig around might find a good deal I think if you need gear you really should check out your local flea market, Do you find this valuable? |

Don't forget about the Airsoft stuff you can get direct from China like Airsoft-club.com.You'd be surprised, but a lot of that stuff is identical/comes out of the same factory as military gear. But it's a lot less expensive... Do you find this valuable? |
