Quarantine?
Jan 7 2012, 11:33 AM EST
I've been thinking. What are the odds of the military managing to effectively quarantine an area? I mean, I know that they can enforce roadblocks and travel restrictions, but It's obvious that they can't pull a 25ft high wall out of their arse. How would they enforce the surrounding area such as forests / hills etc.. ?

They could also get it into place a lot faster. The drawback to it, at least for the people inside is the way they would inforce it. Imminant strike, any boggie picked up would be destroyed. easiest way to stop the boggie.. But as the Afghannies and Iraqies have shown, they probably wont detect everything, and by extension cannot stop everything. I suppose then the next step would be area sterilization. to contain or limit the spread. Do you find this valuable? |

Sentries and picket lines have worked to some degree. Not impenetrable, for sure, but that would be the first step I would think. Im sure there are guidelines to assessing terrain for likelihood of ppl trying to escape. OJ has a strong point with modern surveillance. I do not think tow missiles will be used much on civilians though. Drones or snipers are also maybes. Someone with military experience should comment.
