Got certified when I was in the army as well. But haven't kept it up to date the past few years. It's a shame too because of all the lakes around here."

"I grew up near salt water but just fished never dived. Went into the Army and part of my job required me to be SCUBA certified. Then did it for recreation after I got out. Yeah people that don't know anything about diving don't realize that diving in a lake is just as dangerous...Yeah no sharks but when the lake is over 100ft deep... Well you know the dangers of that. "

I just had a few friends from the nearby Naval base and some in the army who knew how to dive teach me a thing or two and fell in love with it.I dive with just shorts and goggles on if it's shallow,but use a bottle otherwise."

"You heard right on that one. Depending on whether it's a natural or manmade there's no telling what you'll find. We've been having a drought around here the past few years which has dropped the lake levels down a lot. Which has made parts that had been too deep before able to reach bottom now. One story I read someone pulled a plate off a car on the bottom and it had been reported stolen back in the early 80s lol "

"I was in Guantanamo Bay on the naval base. We weren't allowed to go off the base. I would love to go to Havana on vacation. Cuban waters are impeccable since Castro was an avid diver and protected them."
