Bravo! Bravo, I say!
Feb 5 2012, 2:03 AM EST | Post edited: Feb 5 2012, 2:03 AM EST
Just want to send my compliments to the staff here at ZSDW about how well this site is run and maintained. I have to say this is one of the few wikis I still see active daily, and have plenty of active staff members.. A lot have died since Wetpaint added their Entertainment Platform.
I figured this would be better than sending every single staff member a compliment. That would take too much time in my busy schedule.

I also apologize if this thread breaks any rules. I have read the Code of Condut, but did not see anywhere on the page saying a thread like this couldn't be made. *shrugs* If there is, I missed it, and apologize humbly for that. Even being just 16, I have bad eye site. (lol.)

Thank you very much for your comments Naru. The ZSDW has a great community, wouldn't be here without them.

Is there likely to be a revival of the wiki platform in the near future?

You're very welcome Marsden. (-:

I can not say whether the platform will ever be revived or not. What I do know though is that the chances of it happening are slim to none, I'm afraid.

We Moderators at Wetpaint Central (To be specific, CryingDove and myself) can not even get a reply from Jeremy anymore. It's awful how the platform has been as of late.
We can't get updates from Jeremy. We try and try, but no reply comes from him.

CryingDove even went as far as to Tweet to Ben Elowitz (CEO), asking him to please address the current issues we have, and the future of the platform. He even made a page for him to do so on. Nothing happened.

All the company's staff members can focus on is the Entertainment Platform thanks to orders from Ben.
Jeremy's daily tasks have took over all the time he used to spend on the wiki platform.
The developers (Unless it's a server-wide threat problem; i.e: Sites under maintainence/Read-Only mode due to disk space again) have been banned from coming on the platform, or even thinking about us. (Again, unless it's a serious server-wide problem.)

-Continued-

Over this whole period, I saw many of my friends slowly become inactive, until they all became inactive, and some cancel their membership. It's really sad that a once great wiki farm turned into this mess.
I even thought about quitting myself. It has popped in my head a couple of times since the new Entertainment Platform was added and everyone started to leave, but I decided to stay. I don't really know why. I guess it is because I swore loyalty to the community. I swore I would never leave or quit Wetpaint or Wetpaint Central. I am a loyal Wetpainter, and I will stay here until Wetpaint goes bankrupt, or closes off the wiki platform.

I made a promise to stay, and I keep my promises, no matter what. I'm not going to let some server slowness stop me from doing what I joined to do; Wiki on and help the community to the best of my knowledge and ability.

If we can not get any kind of reply from Jeremy by about Wednesday, I am going to, by my own will and decision, talk to Ben Elowitz on Facebook. I will add him as a friend, and then message him about what I think.
If he un-friends me or blocks me, that just goes to show he really doesn't give a damn about us.
I am going to hope he doesn't, and he will actually talk with me about what I want to talk about. No bull. Just the truth, and nothing but.
It may be done in vain, but I'm sticking up for myself, as well as the few users like yourself that use Wetpaint on a daily basis, and want to see this platform up and running and want support. I may fail, but at least I will get to inform him that there are still users who care deeply about the community, the platform, and is loyal to both.

The staff are superhuman that's for sure. You ever try to corral a bunch of redneck, gun-toting, lunatics?

Definitly not for the normal folks. Abby-Normal maybe. :o)

But yeah do let the CEO and others know we exist. We put a lot of effort and time into this site.

I can't take much credit because I'm not as active as other mods, but I do like being a part of the team. We do weird things like stay up all night video chatting with each other. And some of us (me and LJ) do even weirder things like start dating and move in together. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Thanks for the compliment.

I have to say, the main thing keeping ZSDW alive currently is Google. We rank among the top search hits for things relating to zombies, and zombies are getting really popular.

Anyway. Best of luck with the Wetpaint chiefs.

"You ever try to corral a bunch of redneck, gun-toting, lunatics?"
..I'm kinda considered a redneck..and don't know whether to take that as an insult or a compliment..XD
I'm from the south; Georgia. Where all the rednecks live and act like rednecks.

@junedragon3: If you could do me a small itsy-bitsy favor, and limit how often you do the 'trick'. I know I have no place to ask for you to do so, but I would appreciate it if you would. I would also appreciate you not telling anyone either. We are trying to keep this from going further than what it has.
You see, the trick may be nice and all, and I have even used it on Wetpaint Central, but using it does violate the Wetpaint Terms of Use we have agreed to, when we first joined Wetpaint. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/terms
Just because Wetpaint isn't paying attention to us right now does not mean someone can't use the appropriate email and report us users for violating the TOS, and we get into trouble.

Thanks for the praise Clay, there's a lot of things that happen behind the scenes to keep things moving forward here at the ZSDW. Spring and early summer are usually our busy seasons, and to take advantage of this I've got a few ideas I've been working on to increase community participation. Stick around, it'll be fun.

Naru: About your request of junedragon, what part of the TOS does his "trick" violate? As far as I know that's a Wetpaint "trick" that is new 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Oh it's a compliment. This community takes a great deal of pride in its quirkiness and actively cultivates it. Makes things entertaining.

"As far as I know that's a Wetpaint "trick" that is new"
The hint here is 'As far as I know', and even if it was new, it still violates TOS. Trust me, I know what I am talking about. As a community moderator, I know these things. ;-)

The trick has been around since 2008 or even later (I don't recall), but it was tightly sealed to trusted people's lips. We have given out the trick to people we know could be trusted. Sadly, the trust was betrayed by some users that were told, and they went and told others, and then they told others, and here we are now, with people still learning this trick that was once tighter than a tight pair of jeans. (Excuse the lame metaphore.)
It's not even a Wetpaint trick. Wetpaint doesn't own it. It's not avaliable on Wetpaint because it is not an official Wetpaint product. It's an illegal Wetpaint product. (Illegal as in break the law, or in this case, the TOS.) Three users came up with it, and the main one that made it possible in the script making? She was banned from Wetpaint for that, and bottling Wetpaint. (She made the record of longest thread with replies from a bot with 74000 replies.)

What part you ask? Well if you actually look at the TOS, and read it, you can see it breaks the TOS.

Section 6, Subsection: Software:
"You agree not to copy, distribute, sell, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, or create derivative works from any Software."
Using that trick modifies the software used to post replies/threads to a Wetpaint Wiki.

Carnack: Well then, thanks for the compliment. (-:

It makes words bold, italicized etc, yes the script is different but it's not being abused and it will just give more "flavour" to threads and replies Do you find this valuable?

Sharpie, the quote says "modify", not "abuse". It doesn't matter what the intentions are, it's against the TOS.

Is there any way that the mod (which is derived from easyedit) can circumvent the TOS because it is derived from easyedit? Besides, what will happen to those who have used it? Banning them wouldn't be fair because they really haven't done anything wrong

I think the one thing us ZSDW folks all have in common is simple (in a sense). We all enjoy surviving, and that apparently includes on the internet. Do you find this valuable?

But they are using it on the site.

If it's on Wetpaint it's under the ToS.
