Okay, so I am doing a project about the civil war for school when an idea came to mind about a simple machine the telegraph

What would you guys think of setting up a system for your base and others around you? It would sure be hard to set up but it would sure beat walking for however long to tell other groups something.
Do you find this valuable?

Telegraph was not that hard of a system to set up. Electromagnets for it are not a problem. Stringing and maintaining the wires is the second most difficult part. The most difficult is training people to use the code (probably Morse, but it could be unique).

On the other hand, it would not be difficult to set of a dynamic telephone link using mostly the same equipment.
