"Ive never read that anything about it being even remotely hard to shoot. And it's not supposed to be like a normal pistol or a regular carbine/rifle. It is after all in pistol calibers and not rifle calibers.
Now I wouldn't own one, but I can see it used for a BOB. The longer barrel will increase velocity and range over a standard pistol. But it will also be more handy than a full length carbine/rifle.
It was designed as a truck type gun. To have more than just a normal pistol at hand in your vehicle or on you while working on the farm or ranch. IE the whole Ranch Hand monicker."
Google reviews of the Ranch Hand for info about the difficulty shooting it.

The 12" barrel will increase velocity slightly over an 8" barreled revolver. But reloading it is a one-at-a-time adventure, whereas a revolver can be loaded with a speedloader much quicker. Both a revolver and the Ranch Hand hold 6 rounds, so there is no advantage there. Also, it requires two hands to operate it.

I would love to have a Ranch Hand for fun. But I would prefer a big-bore revolver in the same calibers as a BOB gun.

The reloading is a factor, you are correct.

Now I never Google for any reviews. Don't know the writers or posters have even seen the item they are reviewing.
In the four gun mags and two survival mags I've seen the reviews in. Not one complained about problems with shooting or sighting the gun.

Now to shoot the Ranch Hand, AR pistol, AK pistol, PPS43-C, and other long pistol is not the typical pistol hold. And you can't shoulder it like a carbine/rifle.
It takes some getting used to, and if you can get a red dot/reflex or pistol scope for it. Then it becomes a real accurate weapon.
Some people can't get used to the different holding and shooting style for these large pistols.

If the weaon has a vertical grip it will be simpler to shoot well. This would be the case with the other examples you mentioned.
I have a Marlin 1895. If I try and sight down the barrel holding it out it provides a very awkward sight picture. Now granted, my rifle has a longer barrel and the stock gets in the way as I hold it. But I think it gives me some idea of what it would be like.

I'm an old shooter, so I have fired revolvers for years. They aim instinctively for me. The additional 100 fps you get from the 12" bbl as opposed to an 8" bbl isn't going to be a huge advantage. Quick reloading, a simpler mechanism, and proven accuracy will be a huge advantage. Pack what you think is best. I would prefer a Ruger Redhawk over a Rossi Ranch Hand. Maybe its just a personal preference.

This type of gun is normaly called a "Mares Leg" and was originaly designed as a gimick gun used by Steve McQueen in the 1950s western TV show "wanted Dead or alive"
The first one was a cut down winchester 92 in 44 40 but because they showed up better McQueen carried 45 70 cartridges in his cartridge belt
Later on was used in several other TV shows and movies, Personaly one of my favorites was Zoe in the Firefly series

Outside the movies I think only the most inexperanced unknowledgable gun person would choose a gimick gun like this for any serious use.
Needs two hands to work the action, difficult to aim well, slow to load, rather low capacity and still bigger then most handguns....Whats it's real advantage again ?

If we are talking about a zmbie apocalypse, then a high capacity semi-auto would be the best defensive weapon. It has enough power to bust a skull and holds enough rounds for a big zombie social event.

If not zombies, I prefer an M1911-A1 in .45ACP for the extra power and reliability. For all-around post apocalyptic life, a good quality double action revolver in a heavy caliber (ie at least .357 mag) would give you a defensive weapon and a hunting weapon in one.

you know what screw what i said before i love pistols and they are some of the best general porpose firearms ever i would definently carry one but there is only one thing i have to say PRACTICE it is alot harder to get a good shot with a pistol then a rifle trust me. this is just my opinion though because i am an out standing pistol shot i have almost never missed and am alway get it rather in or very close to the bullseye even with one hand and shooting about one round a second i also have great grouping Do you find this valuable?
