Anyone know much on these? I don't know if it's satin or not, it's not shiny. :P Kind of like bead blasting for those who know knives. Been in my family since around the time they came out. Anyone have a clue? Do you find this valuable?

The winchester 1200 was made from 1964 to 1980...It was a cheap lower quaility replacement to the great Winchester model 12 .
In 1964 Winchester revamped thier line of guns making them cheaper and of lesser quality, this is why you often hear of a Winchester described as a "Pre 64"

The model 1200 was Winchesters attempt to make a shotgun that could compete price wise with Remington mega selling 870., Remington continued to outsell them
I used to hunt with a guy that had a Winchester 1200 and he had some trouble with it double feeding, looking at it beside my old 870 and you could see the difference in quality and you could see why more people bought the Remingtons
The 1200 was eventually replaced with the 1300 which is of about the same quality I think

Some 1200s were used by the military and had a barrel heat shield and bayonet lug, never seen one
Winchester made some riot guns in Stainless steel but again I never seen one called the 1200 Police Stainless apparently it was the same gun as the 1200 "defender" with a 18 inch barrel and 7 shot mag but in Stainless. Since all 1200s recievers are not steel but an aloy don't have to worry about them rusting.
1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

That gunbroker seller lake many [most?] is on the moon with that price.
I think the practice of gunbroker relisting unsold guns for free leads to people starting thier stuff off as crazy prices as they figure what the heck a fish might jump in the boat

Heres one that is in what looks like the same condition that actually sold for around $250 with only 1 bid

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=274030557

Now you would think if you were selling one of these you would look at compleated auctions and see what they are actually worth and sell for and not price it at a crazy high price but I guess hope springs eternal
