"It's not a castrating knife, it's a pruning knife... says so right in the description. LOL"
Moreover, it is for harvesting grapes!

Look out Sharpie, He's got a knife!!!

- That pattern knife is used in Spain for harvesting grapes and an identical patten is used in the UK for pruning and splicing trees and shrubs. In Turkey I've seen a lighter but similar shaped blades used for opium harvesting. . .

Oh great. Bad enough that S15 has been accused of carrying a knife intended for castrating, but now you're accusing him of harvesting opium too? Awful, just awful. Do you guys have it in for this poor guy or what? LOL

Is there going to be a "real" winner AND a con. US winner or will the winner be considered only in con. US? Do you find this valuable?

Sorry for the delay, I've had some logistical issues getting everything sorted out with my judges... the internet, while amazing, is flawed in that not everyone is using it at the same time.

Before I get to the results, I want to explain how I arrived at them. I and two other impartial judges (not site members) picked their top two favorite entries (only from people who sent their address), based on A) photo quality B) text-portion quality C) knife "cool factor." None of the three of us had the same first place "favorite" picture, though there were repeats for the second slots. Of those, we narrowed it down to three finalists. The three finalists were Filadog, FrankLeeDeRainged, and Toxic_Shock.

Incidentally, people who didn't submit their address were ineligible from judging. Sorry.

The three finalists names were each written on 5 equally-sized pieces of paper (for a total of fifteen 1" square slips) and entered into a large cowboy hat. The winner was chosen at random shortly ago.

Congratulations Toxic_Shock, you're the winner of the March 2012 EDC Knife Photo Contest!

Congrats Toxic.

BTW, not to bust anyone's chops or anything, but given that contest rules stated that the official "winner" to whom the prize would be sent could be a US resident only, I think it might be interesting to do a second round of judging with all of the entries considered, regardless of location and regardless of whether an address was provided.

We all know that there won't be a prize for such a second round, but just for fun it might be interesting to know whose submission would have come out on top, all other factors being equal.

Um I don't want to be a sour puss but per the rules, rule 3 Specifically and I quote: 3. "The picture must include proof of membership and image ownership. Both your written screen name and the word "ZSDW" must be included in the actual image, not digitally added after the image was taken. A note card or sheet of paper with your screen name and ZSDW written on it works, but don't be afraid to get tastefully-creative."

I don't see the "ZSDW" in his photo?

Excellent observation.

That requirement was mostly for people who had just joined the site, or who haven't been active for long periods of time and have common screen names. I didn't want folks to register multiple accounts and steal pictures off of the internet to cheat the rules and enter multiple submissions. To double up on that, I had entrants send me their physical mailing address, to further help combat multiple submissions.

Toxic_Shock, like most other participants, has been a member here for years. If Filadog or FrankLeeDeRainged, or most every other person who participated had made that same mistake, I would've still accepted their entries provided that their screen name was present in the physical image, rather than make them take a new picture for their submission. It would be a real pain in the ass if someone went to great lengths and because they missed "ZSDW" in the photo, had to recreate their image...

Incidentally, I accepted other submissions that forgot "ZSDW" as well.
