Not so hidden threat.
Mar 2 2012, 10:06 PM EST
It occurred to me the other day that I live pretty close to a zoo. Is anyone else worried about this becoming a problem where they live? I was thinking this could turn into a horrible situation inside a city. Raiders and zombies suck, but imagine that on top of all the dangerous critters of the world roaming around.

"Lion skin rug anybody? This could be a cheap safari."Lol I like the way you think. Seriously though, this could suck. Imagine trying to scavange supplies and all of a sudden you see a couple of tigers munching on a survivor. Can I get a hell-mother-f***-no? Do you find this valuable? |

"Good idea either way.I am a card carrying member of People Eating Tasty Animals Yeah this is somewhat scary. Does it really take a .50 rifle to take down a tiger? I think the large cats are the greatest worry though. And among them I would worry most about leopards and panthers. Cheetahs are scary too. The giants like elephants are too tame to pose a threat, just carry some peanuts and you have handy no-gasoline transportation. I better be careful, zoos will become the new Wal-Mart Do you find this valuable? |

"I am a card carrying member ofDoesn't really take a rifle in the .50 range to do it. Most of the time it's something like a .375 H&H Magnum,.416 Lott or Rigby on the far off chance they get loose I'll have a .458 Winchester Magnum that should work pretty well too. You move up to elephants and you move into double rifles. Do you find this valuable? |

A guy not to far from my house, about half mile, owns at least a couple of lions. I've never really thought about it, but i guess i'd be spending a lot of time inside...

This is something I have actually been thinking of recently, most people dont relize how aggresive many animals held in the zoo are. Big problems would come from the big cats, male elephants, rhinos, polar bears, hippos. And yeah all it takes is one idiot from PETA or a zoo keeper that feels bad for the animals to let them lose....

You should try and tame them all! Then you would have an army of animals at your disposal! Mwahaha!Duct tape a great white shark to a skateboard and push it into a couple of zeds and watch it do work. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Most wild animals tend to stay away from humans, so unless they are actively hunting, or you get inbetween thier cubs and the mothers, they will tend to leave you alone. The zombies will prolly be trying to catch them as well, so they will prolly have extra reason to avoid anything on 2 legs. What would concern me is running into a bloody big rhino in a large open area. Or having a herd of panicky elephants run through my barricaded compound, destroying my defenses and leading a pack of zombies right in.. That would literally bite.. Do you find this valuable? |

"Remember though, these animals are used to contact with humans and humans feeding them. They won't be so shy."And there in lies a huge problem. One reason why humans made it to the top of the food chain, and why we don't get attacked by wild animals on a daily basis is due to their fear of man. Animals who don't fear humans are the most dangerous, especially if they are thinking to make a meal out of you. However, I'm very sure putting a few rounds through some animal friends will scare them off when they see facing people as a losing proposition. Do you find this valuable? |
