to be peerfectly honest my wife's support has really driven this thing. she is as much a survival nut as i am.

we have been fortunate enough to have careers that support our obsessions, as well as our daughter, and still have a life to boot.

for this i am truly thankful.

"It honestly depends. Think about it this way. Ancient people survived with little more than sticks. In some parts of the world, people still survive on only what nature provides.

You are better prepared than 99% of the population. Personally I would work towards getting literature on frontier living. Knowledge will quickly become a valuable tool. A really good one is called "Back to Basics: A complete guide to traditional skills" Lehman's Non-electric has other good ones too."
i actually teach primitive outdoor skills, or did, in the military for a while. as well as complementary military skills based around worst case scenarios.

Some really interesting reading is simply the old foxfire series. it is a real handy collection of how tos, dos and donts, and folk rememdies.

I have a forge, a grist meal, and a pair of really annoying donkeys as well.

"Agreed. This guy needs to make a page.

Awesome BOL BTW. Way beyond my prepping supplies.

I build a little each month as money allows. When you're married with children its hard to justify spending tons of your income on JIC supplies."
thanks for the cudos.

sorry, no page. its one thing to talk about your obsession with those who can apreciate it, or least be entertained by your compulsion.

but, i will keep the location disclosed, the contents routine vague, and information about me and the kid and the wife vague as well. it's as far as my sense of security will let me go. anonimity is a ghilie suit of its own.

"What type of ventilation system do you use."
the system is three fold. the closed air circulatory is primary only in the event the facility is sealed. under normal circumstances the facility is essentially open to the world allowing air to flow freely and unrestricted. this is aided byu a series of secondary vents that only function to circulate the air. the third aspect of the system is a rather intense series of NBC filters to decon air from outside. this air goes into a closed loop system for air quality anaylsis and is then either used for internal air, reclensed if needed, or blown back out into the world if unable to meet the standards of the air quality testing. the internal system is pressure regulated, prefiltered, and has secondary air-gas capacity to improve air quality. in all the closed curcuit system would allow us to go in for six months at this tiime without breathing external air. this system wasn't as expensive as it sounds, it is based on technology originally developed for navy some time ago.
