"what White76Knight says below
plus: how many deaths are there per year that could have been avoided in certain parts of the world? in india and bangladesh, people die every year attacked by tigers, among other animals - invariably being aware of your own surroundings and taking responsibility for your own actions will keep you out of range of large cats. people walk through the jungle blind every day, some get attacked by lions in kenya and some get mugged in new york city, others fall into the hole that they walk past every day.
moral: 1). be aware. 2). take responsibility, the nanny state might not be there in time. 3). change your routines, if necessary
"
ok, I admit I am wrong, and I realize that people have over-adapted, and adapted the world to their needs
thanks for the constructive criticism

"Lol sorry I wasn't very clear in the last post, its not just the price of the materials that I would need, its also the price of buying the land, all the Tax on said land till the apoc happens.

Also the area I live in is smack bang in the middle of what's called the Green Belt, so that means that I wouldn't get the planning permission to build it, unless I can pay a huge amount of backhander's to the right people in the council/government.

And if I did get the permission to build it, the wall going around the front of the property can only be 4 foot tall, and the wall around the back would only be 6" tall, witch isnt much of a outer wall for a fort. "
Property needn't be all that expensive if you go after a piece of land that's out in the middle of nowhere, or at least hard core rural, which a good BOL should probably be anyway.

Another benefit to building in the middle of nowhere or in a rural area is that there are seldom any zoning laws to limit what you can build on your own property. Once you buy the land, it's yours to do with as you see fit, and as long as you aren't building anything that's say a hazard to public safety or something, it's generally none of anybody else's business.
