Baby strollers made for joggers are often used by guys who compete in 3-gun. You can pick up a three wheeled stroller like this for cheap at Goodwill or a yard sale.

I mean hell, ya got drink holders and everything."
I have been thinking about one of these for a while , I believe they would work great. Ive seen two homeless people with all their gear in one now

Another thing I've been thinking about are these small folding wagons. Steel with canvas sides and fold up to a small package. I've talked to a couple of people that use them at the flea market and they love them. Seem to be pretty sturdy though don't know How off road they would be.
They told me that you can get them for like $40 at the big box store

"Im not sure what you mean by runners. The trad travois had 2 points in contacts with the ground. The advantage was that the fricative surface was reduced to a few square inches. "
And what is going to happen to those points in deep snow or soft mud?

There was I thinking a travois was formed by two saplings, joined at the thick end so the whippy ends trailed off. But hell that was the way we were taught to move casualties in the British scouts, mebbe we had it all wrong.

What about a hand truck?

I was thinking along the lines of ratchet strapping a 50 gallon plastic drum to your hand truck and filling it with lots of supplies. When you get to your destination it would still be very useful in moving heavy things. Many can handle anywhere from 300 to 500 lbs. Having a bicycle tire pump as part of your supplies and filling the tires with Slime would be a good idea.

Moving lots of water is just one of the useful things you could do with this set-up.

Thats a darn good idea and if you fill the tubes with that goo for bike wheels then you could make the tires way more durrable. Timber you sir are brilliant. Do you find this valuable?

"A wider wheel base makes for greater stability also. Very good point with the travois. I have plans to make a collapsible one to keep in the UEV. At the moment the cost estimate is $60. I'm unsure whether I will use 10" diameter wheels or a larger diameter. The travois used by aborigines (Native American and others) did not have wheels, of course. That is one point of tradition I choose to abandon. While a solid tire is more common in the smaller diameters, a pneumatic tire would do better over rough terrain. One thought I have is to use wheels for a child's bicycle.

Here are some other ideas on mobility

I thought this guy's idea had quite a good bit of merit since he is wheel chair bound. A fact that most of the responses ignored.

i once saw a costa rican man who had made a rig for his mule that used two ladders mounted to either isde of a yoke that he rigged to a saddle, there where what looked like lawn mower wheels on the end of the ladders that drug behind the mule. he had some sort of net between the ladders and several boards tied to keep them from seperting. it was loaded dow nwith fruit and headed for market.

it was the oddest travios i had ever seen, but it looked very effective.

If you have an ass, then you really wouldn't need the luggage anyways - asses haul, well, ass.

That said, donkeys and horses can carry all that you need and more. As will alpaca, llama, cows, camels, goats, sheep, or whatever other quadreped you have around.

cart or bicycle has the advantage of being far less maintenance prone than an animal, no feeding, watering, grooming, or medicating involved. but, the only muscles to move your stuff is your own. Do you find this valuable?

What about that guy on Ripley's Believe it or Not who ate a car? True, it lacks nutritional value... lol
