Thanks for the link. I might look around, see if there's anywhere to get a deal on a CZ-75. (Local pawn shops are full of junk and stolen goods, don't want to get tangled up in that. . .)

The "Baby Eagle" is a fine gun, but it might be a little above what I was hoping to spend, if I read right. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't think you'd get in trouble at a pawn shop, it's their responsibility to make sure the goods are good 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Oh, I know that, but around here, they don't really do that. Trust me, I've had enough stolen to know that cops, lawyers, etc. around here don't give a d*mn about the law and never do their jobs, except for a couple of guys who try their best most of the time. The pawn shops around here have sold enough stolen goods, and with my luck, I'd be the first one ever arrested for buying their crap. (Note: I do respect and obey the law; I'm just ranting about the current state of local BS.) Do you find this valuable? |

So, anyway, I think if I wanted a semi-automatic handgun, the CZ-75 would be my pick. I've been reading up on it, and I'm going to start checking if I see it anywhere and what prices are. If I preferred a revolver, what do we have on the cheaper end of that? Could somebody jog my memory? Do you find this valuable? |

I think when the time comes that I decide I need a DA revolver it'll be a Ruger GP100, unless I can find a diff. one for cheap, maybe S&W or Colt, depends on what you can find at the gun shop. The 75 looks like a good gun, I was thinking of getting the P07 Duty awhile back, but I got the Glock instead 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"So, anyway, I think if I wanted a semi-automatic handgun, the CZ-75 would be my pick. I've been reading up on it, and I'm going to start checking if I see it anywhere and what prices are.A DA revolver is a great handgun. Other than a limit on the number of rounds it holds, it may be as good or better than many semi-autos. The Ruger is a tough gun. Sharpie mentioned the GP-100, and I have heard nothing but raves about those. I have an old Security Six I inherited from my Dad. It still works perfectly after having thousands of rounds run thru it. Other pluses to DA revolvers (or revolvers in general): 1)They are the most reliable. If you get a bad cartrige, you don't have to go thru contortions to clear the weapon. You just pull the trigger again. 2) They are chambered for calibers suitable for hunting deer or hogs. 3) Anyone can operate them. And they are safe while still being ready to use in an instant. 4) They can handle shot-shells, which is great for small game or as a deterent. The above mentioned Security Six is my wife's choice for keeping handy when I am out of town. The first round is a shot shell and the next 5 are hollowpoints. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "Autos = Sig Sauer, H&K, SpringfieldDo you judge a firearm by it's price tag? I don't want to get into a firearm forum p*ssing match with you over this. Just curious. Recently I watched a co-worker shoot circles around a guy with a Wilson Combat 1911 (That had been fine tuned by a trusted gunsmith) with a Rock Island 1911 that he just pulled out of the box. The cost of the WC 1911? $1500 plus lots of bells and whistles. The RI 1911? $450 plus S&H and transfer fees. The look on the gun snob's face when he got owned? Priceless. Which guns better? Probably the WC, it's not the guns fault that guy sucked. @vampirejediknight, Buy what you can afford and buy ammo for. Remember if you practice a lot and plan on putting a lot of rounds down range the cost of ammo is a big deciding factor that a lot of shooters don't consider. As my Dad used to say, "It's not the price of the horse that gets ya, it's what it costs to feed 'em". 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Do you judge a firearm by it's price tag?No I do not, the fire arms I listed I have used recreationaly and professionally, my opinion of these weapons is based on my experience with them directly, if it was all about money and not performance in the field I'd tell the guy to buy a Kimber but since i'm sure he wants to live I didn't suggest that. I have fired plenty of handguns cheaper than those brands listed some not so bad and others complete junk, price doesn't always matter T-Rat but sometimes it does Edit: Forgot to mention, I agree wholeheartedly that just cuz its expensive doesn't make you a dead eye...btw, I'm not a gun snob, I use these weapons because at least for me, they don't let me down Do you find this valuable? |

Also, I think I'd prefer single-action in a revolver; sorry for not specifying. Like I said, I'm just kind of weighing different options. Do you find this valuable? |

"Um. . . I'm on kind of a budget. "What is your budget? As for a single action, again I'd suggest Ruger, you can get Blackhawks in either .357 or .45 Colt, and can also accept either 9mm and .45 Auto with a cylinder swap 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I get kinda aggrivated when I visit gun forums and there's always some guy that says his is better and generally his idea of better is the price tag. Sometimes you pay for quaility and get it in spades and some times you pay for quaility and buy a name. I've bought names before and been down right dissapointed. In the age of the internet I've seen good guns get bad names because of a rumor or a factory mistake that was taken care of ages ago. All you have to do is look at the AR/ AK debates. There is always tons of mis-information on both sides. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

.357 is a good investment, and can shoot .38, which is cheaper, so that'd be nice. I think Ruger has made some good guns.As for my budget, it's nothing definite, but I was hoping to spend not over $500 on my next crazy purchase. Of course, I could easily spend more than that, but I'd rather not. This is coming out of my "crazy whim spending" budget, which is always pretty low compared to the rest of my spending. I don't like to spend too much on guns if I can help it. Do you find this valuable? |
