How to turn malls into useful buildings

Actually, it can be pretty simple. Have someone experienced put DetCord, C4, or another explosive suitable for building demolition around the mall, somehow get zombies in, and detonate the explosives. Maybe this is a bit too hard to make in a post shtf day, but if it can be done, it would be a drastic fall in zombie numbers, if done in a variety of places

I'm all for herding zed into a closed building and demolishing it but with the work and planning it takes to plan a building demolition as well as the dangers that naturally come with it, I don't want some Military Channel fan boy in charge of some explosives that we may have found on an abandoned military truck. ...but hey, if everyman G.I. Joe wants to take a shot at it and be demolition man I'm all for it. I'll just stay a few hundred yards away for when the clock strikes 00:00. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

So you're going to demolish a whole building chocked full with supplies, to kill a bunch of Zed? 5 people in a vantage point with rifles and a tonne of ammo could kill the same amount , probs more in a day, and not only will destroying that building bring every Zed within a 20mile radius it will cause fires that will destroy so much more. Explosives are a crazy idea, and should only be used in extreme situations. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Wasting hard to locate explosives on a mall demolition is a total waste.If you wanted to kill lots of zeds lure smaller groups into houses or buildings. Then burn them down with the zeds inside. Its a lot easier to prepare and saves the valuable explosives for more important work. Heck lure zeds into abandoned bank vaults and them lock them in, forever. Blowing stuff up is cool, but it will draw attention faster than its worth. Wiring a mall will take hundreds of man hours, to get it done properly. And it will also take hundreds of pounds of C4 or such explosives. Miles of det cord, times fuze, up to a hundred blasting caps, dual systems to cover malfunctions (Murphy) and then a ignition system. And finding all of this, carrying it to a mall, setting it up, then luring the Zeds. Man lots of work for a small kill ratio and not guaranteed results. And good luck find all that demo gear in one vehicle and or location. I could see using C4 or such for IEDs, land mines, traps, or even for breaching secure sites for supplies, gear, and weapons/ammo. But not a mall/building demo just to kill zeds. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

The only way your gonna see me at the mall is if by some stroke of luck Ving Rhames is in my group. Hell if that happens I am going to Walmart too!

Either(a) the malls would be loaded with zed, meaning you would never get them rigged (b) the malls would be zed free, and filled with well defended survivors, making you a Royal Richard to blow them up (c) the mall would be zed free, and totally looted, which would allow for your plan - but with more work than any other empty building - like a warehouse No, mall are best left to the despirate scavangers who will likely find out all too late that there is little non-perishable food in the food court and that the Baby Gap and Ambercrombie do not improve your survival chances. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. i would like to mention most of the difficulty in the demos teh do today are for control purpose hence implosion. implosions are hard explosions are easy.

All the ill-prepared will flock to the malls and stores and fight for the last supplies on the shelves. There are still plenty of useful things you can gather from a mall, even after it's been looted dry. Wood, cables and metal, to name a few. I am not going to make any trips to the mall, post SHTF. Mainly due to the fact it will be a Z and raider haven. Do you find this valuable? |
