" 2 large packets matches (can be waterproofed with wax from the candles to a degree) "
Don't rely on can be. Go ahead and waterproof them now.

Since you have quite a few things for hunting/fishing it looks like you want to be prepared for spending some time away from home (or BOL, etc). I think you might lay in some more food stuffs for those days when the fish just ain't bitin'.

Otherwise you seem to have a great foundation laid out. I'm sure you will refine it over time. Just keep it in mind every time you read something about BOBs.

You appear to be planning to fish. That spear's nice and all, but being able to set a few lures overnight is great. Hooks and line are cheap and wonderful.

I would add a machete, and a couple of utility knives as far as bladed implements go, and a water bladder or two, as well as a way of purifying water (tablets, filters, bleach etc). Condoms. Both for water carrying and the original purpose.

What country/state are you in? A handgun and slingshot are all well and good, but a shotgun or rifle is better.

I like the cards and dice, there's hundreds of games you can play. A little more food would do wonders. All of the supermarkets are likely to be cleaned out, so being able to survive more than three days on your stockpile is a very good thing indeed.

And now a few questions:
>Do you plan on wearing your wetsuit at all times?
>Is your pole spear realistically going to be useful in combat?
>Can you carry all of this lot if need be?

actually the spear is for spearfishing under water there are alyways fish. (i live in a coastal town off western australia some of the best fishing and spearfishing in australia)
i do not plan on wearing my wetsuit at all times and i understand that i will be at risk while putting it on.

no the spear would be next to useless in combat, the only way you could kill a zombie with it is to get very close.

i have not carried and do not know if i could carry all of these things together.

i plan on spending a lot of time on the coast beacause the visibility on the sand is easy to see raider/undead.

I hear that gun lawn in Oz are fairly strict, like here in the UK. In which case, it's best to be prepared to defenc yourself. Some sharp pointed pieces of metal hammered into wooden poles make crude spears, and you could use the machete as a weapon.

I like your plan about fishing for food, and assume you have other fishing gear.

I reckon all that stuff wouldnt come to more than 10 or 15 kilos, so shouldn't be too much of a problem with a good pack, but it sounds like you're planning to bug in anyway, so that'd only be of use in an emergency.

Any plans for food other than fish?

Just an idea. If you already have a plastic bottle, switch your canteen to and old surplus steel or aluminum...or as the brits say Aluminium canteen. This can then also be used as a makeshift coffee or teapot, as it can be put on a fire without it distorting like plastic.
(yes you can boil water in a plastic bottle, but it ruins the bottle). That along with your old bean can can be used for your entire meal at one time.

Another thinig, This is my personal opinion, always allow for twice the food you think you'll need, If you are planning on being out 2 days allow for 4, 3 days allow for 6. Why?
Because something always comes up. and there is nothing worse than running out of something when you could have carried enough.

yeah the gun laws in oz are really tight.
i do have a cheap collapsable recurve bow but a gun is better.
but since i live in the country alot of the farmers around here have guns.
i dont plan to bring any fishing gear with me beacause when you spearfish, there are always fish in the water wheter they are good trophy fish or not.
my planned colony is a place that is full of rabbits.
rabbits are a good food scource beacause they reproduce like ... well rabbits.
im also going to add 12 20 pound jelly rubbers for making slingshots/ making/fixing spears

Something else you might add, A spool of snare wire. To make snares for Rabbits.
You may be able to get rabbits with your slingshot, but unfortunately you have to be there to do it. A dozen or so snares set up along runs frequented by rabbits can yeild you a few rabbits while you are doing other things. Just a daily trip to each of them and it can supply you with extra food.

Funny you should mention mess cans. I have my emergency bare-bones kit contained within two stacking mess cans, so that it's self-contained, and the containers themselves protect the contents. A good mess tin will see you through thick and thin, and can be used for almost anything. You could even eat from it.

EDIT:
Regarding snare wire, I like to make snares with a single strand of wire made up of lots of smaller snare wires twisted together, like a rope. This makes it stronger, and it doen't cut into the animal it catches, meaning that the animal won't be hurt as much, thus less adrenaline in its body, so more tender meat.

Hello there James, good to see another Aussie on the site.

If a lot of the farmers in your area have guns, then I would probably steer clear of their properties, they're going to be aggressive in defense of their land.

Another thing, try to pack all of these items into a bag and see how heavy it is. I recently went on a camping trip and took along my BOB to see if I could walk long distances with it. Turns the back pack I was using severely digs into my shoulders whilst walking!

Test all the things in your BOB for faults now, so you're not suffering later.
