"LOL - Oh, you're a right giant of a guy then? Well you never know, they might have something that they can fit you into."
Lol yup. 6'5" and 240lbs. It makes training difficult as most people don't have my reach or training gear is not suited for tall people. Blessing and a curse I guess lol.

The role of tweens? well, in my group they would be expected to pull their weight like everyone else. They are old enough to be responsible and thus should be expected to take part in certain duties like standing watch, gardening, etc.

There is no room for irresponsible behavior in my group, nor will I tolerate any tween drama.

LOL - You say this as if you will have any say in the matter. Tweens are gonna act like tweens no matter what you do, and your decision "not to tolerate it" probably isn't gonna make a blind bit of difference.

It's not allowed.........since when.........makes giving haircuts easier too.

Dang it and it was so much fun. So I guess I will just have to dig out the shock collars again. At least they have a remote and you don't have to chase them. lol

I probably shouldn't admit this, but my oldest daughter growls in frustration whenever she doesn't get her own way, and we didn't spend the first five years of her life teaching her to talk just so that she could go around growling all the time. I'm always telling her that if she wants to growl to growl like a dog, I'm gonna make her wear a collar and start feeding her Alpo. LOL

Like that lol
Is Alpo cheaper.

In all seriousness though. My boy when little jad a habit of literally running off through crowds. So we made a harnesd for him and attached a retractable leash.
The evil looks we got but nobody said boo. Might be I'm 6'3" and at the time 220 shaved head with a goat and the whole thug/biker look going. lol

The hilarious part is that you can buy those damn leashes at Walmart now, and nobody has a problem with that, but when you do it yourself... look out!

You get the same looks with children's leashes from the store. I found that out babysitting for a friend. No one bats an eye when 3 year old is still stuck in a stroller (another leash/cage) but put them on a leash and it's an indignity. *sigh* His mother has said she gets dirty looks too when she uses it. So I don't think it's that I look like a teenage Mum.

Oh well. Let 'em look, I say. As long as you know that you're just doing what's best for the child, they have no right to an opinion.

I shut one lady down cold once when my ten year old was still a toddler. We were outside a department store and had her on one of those leashes at the time, and I overheard this lady say (in that fake assed polite tone where they go, I don't want to offend anyone, but... and then proceed to say something obnoxiously offensive) how horrible it was for a child to be leashed like an animal, and how it was too bad that all parents didn't treat their children with a little more respect. As luck should have it, her child was about the same age as mine and chose that moment to throw a tantrum, pulling away from his mothers hand and running out into the parking lot, almost getting hit by a car.

Naturally, I took the opportunity to say, "Well my kid might be leashed like an animal, but at least she isn't running off and getting hurt. It's too bad that all parents don't love their children enough to do whatever it takes to keep them safe, so you might wanna give the leashes a try, don'tcha think?"

Her face turned beet red and she walked off in a huff without saying another word. It's too bad that her kid had to be put in harms way before she clued in, though thankfully he wasn't actually hurt, but her reaction was still priceless.

I get the impression that whatever decision parents make, someone somewhere doesn't approve of it. I think it best parents don't pay attention to the opinions of strangers.

Couldn't agree more. I don't raise my children by committee. My wife and I are the Board or Directors, the president, the CEO, the whatever. We are not a democracy, nobody outside of the two of us gets a vote.

"Don't ask about the title if it's still Oh Crap. Okay, so let's go -what would be a 12 or 13 year old's role in Z-Day? My backup plan, if my parents turn or are killed, I'm taking my assumedly still alive brother and either A) Proceeding to my safe location or B) Finding my older brothers and continuing by ourselves. Is this a realistic mindset? Could I really pull this off? "
I'm tw*lve and I've been wondering that. Currently I'm training with a bow, parkour and stealth. I hope that comes in handy. I live in a heavy hunting area, so I have plenty of camo and scent sh**. But if I didn't happen to find anyone dead, I'd probably stay calm and not bust anything out
