I've used these quite a lot in university rifle club, their anti-personnel value is zero. Might get a psychological advantage over someone who doesn't have one, particularly in places where guns aren't widespread.

Go out and get a permit to own guns because you can (and this isn't the first thread where we've talked about Indonesian firearms laws, if I remember correctly). Buy a crossbow and learn to use it. Stop whining. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I bet you could cause some psychological trauma to someone if you are consistently hitting them with it from a hidden position. Imagine staking out on a raider encampment or another groups compound, from your hidden position, you are consistently hitting the same guard night after night after night. That's bound to cause some psychological trauma, right? Haha! Or it could possibly cause their group to try and hunt you down. If your main goal is to mentally terrorize people and have a diet consisting mainly of squirrel and pigeon, then the air rifle is for you! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Wow, looking at the price tag of some of the air rifles, you might as well purchase a firearm!I am curious about the Evanix Giant with a price tag of $1400 to $2,000 - cough! Do you find this valuable? |

Well you have this option;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girandoni_Air_Rifle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance_technology "In 1607 Bartolomeo Crescentio described an air-gun equipped with a powerful spiral spring, a device so complex that it must have had predecessors.[original research?] In 1644 Mersenne spoke in detail of "sclopeti pneumatici constructio", and four years later Wilkins wrote enthusiastically of "that late ingenious invention the wind-gun" as being "almost equall to our powder-guns". In the 1650s Otto von Guericke, famed for his experiments with vacua and pressures, built the Madeburger Windbuchse, one of the technical wonders of its time." In "Weapons: An Illustrated History" by Chuck Wills on page 112, there is an example of a Napoleonic Era "wind rifle" that was effective enough that Napoleon ordered "...the summary execution of any Austrian soildier carrying one." If a .50 cal bullet moving at 1000fps doesn't do the job, you've got a pretty big problem on your hands. Do you find this valuable? |

"That's slower than most rimfire ammo, isn't it?"Size is just as important as velocity. A .22 may be going faster, but that .50 is putting a bigger hole in your body. 1000 fps is certainly enough to get it to enter, and it's got a better chance of hitting blood vessels or organs by sheer size compared to a .22. "That's slower than most rimfire ammo, isn't it?"Not 100% sure, but the box of Winchester 115gr FMJ 9mm says at 25 yards it's still moving at 1125fps so... Do you find this valuable? |
