Need some advice on guns

I love the 357 magnum revolver, since my dad had one when I was a kid, I have been thinking of getting a Taurus Tracker. Is it any good? Do you find this valuable?

Taurus has a reputation for turning out some incredibly tough, rugged firearms. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their 3" or 4" revolvers. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Don't let the Smith and Wesson fanboys turn you away from Taurus revolvers. I've had one for over twenty years and it's an accurate reliable fiream.

S&W is overpriced, imho. Taurus makes a good solid revolver. It is more accurate than most shooters can take advantage of.

Listen to Rattler. Rattler is wise.

If you want to buy more exotic weapons then do so. I'm a fan of single shot rifles. But if you are looking for a survival weapon, simpler is better. I prefer something that has been tested by time.

The most important things to keep in mind, after many discussions with many people:

Shoot the gun before you buy it, if you can. Every single person is a little different, from the size and strength of their hand, wrist, arm, etc., and each person can handle the recoil/weight of a gun differently.

Keep in mind the commonality and cost of ammunition; if 9mm does what you need it to, there's no reason to go with something bigger because it's 'cool.' Remember, bigger is often louder, which isn't usually a good thing in a survival scenario.

Ideally, from what I've gathered, my end goal is going to be: a 9mm pistol, because 9mm will kill, especially zombies, ammo is cheap, and common.

A shotgun, because nothing does what a shotgun does.

Lastly will be the rifle(s). Ideally, if you need a rifle to shoot it, you can probably avoid it. Not always, but more than half the time, theoretically.

I've got more thoughts on it, but I don't want to hijack your thread any more. As Bama said, trust the TR.

This. Find an indoor range that rents guns, and go test drive a few! Find out what is comfortable for you, rather than relying on reviews alone.

I'm not getting it bigger because it's cool. I stated that the reason why i'm getting it is because my dad had one when I was a kid. but the one he had was a Smith &Wesson. So no not because it's cool but because of a more personal reason.
If I wanted to go for cool I would get a desert eagle since I like that gun, but since it's more personal, I'm getting a 357 magnum revolver

I will do that. We have a gun merchant 5 minutes away from here.

And keep in mind you can customize your guns too, replacing the handgrips with more comfortable ones, etc.

Will definately keep that in mind since I'm not to crazy about the grip it has, since it doesn't look to comfortable.

I have a Taurus 608. It doesn't carry the Tracker name, but its really the same thing but with an eight shot cylinder. I've had zero problems with it or with my Taurus 1911, and when I did have problems with my Public Defender, Taurus made good on their warranty and replaced it. Do you find this valuable?

Taurus gets a bad rep, but they really don't deserve it. I've shot a few Taurus guns, and they've all been pretty decent guns. Any company will release the occasional lemon, but Taurus's revolvers have always seemed pretty rock solid.
If you decide on a model of revolver that fits your wants and needs I imagine it will serve you well.

"What bad rep?"
Smith and Wesson, Colt, and Dan Wesson fans like ripping on their South American rival. It's largely unfounded. Both Taurus and Rossi make excellent revolvers.

Does Dan Wesson still make revolvers? I know I should Google it, but I was just surprised to see the name again. I lusted after the 44 back in poverty stricken days.
