20. RE: Timber's front porch. Getting to know you.
Jun 19 2012, 11:36 PM EDT
I am from SE Wyoming. I am 29 years old and about to hit my 5 year mark with WYDOT at the end of the month. I have a degree in Sociology from UW and one day I would like to finish up my Master's in History. I am an avid bird hunter and a piss poor fisherman. I also spent seven years of my lfie in Germany and have seen parts of the world, however I prefer the "Equality State" over all others. I graduated from the same highschool that Chris LeDoux did, and I freaking hate Frontier days with a passion now.

*Bums a beer out of Timber's coolerMy name is Steve, 27 years old and I have been living in the Green Bay area for around ten years. I've been on this site for over 2 years and while I don't post as much as I once did, I still read new threads daily. Still working on some fiction for the site, and I hope to add another part to it next month. I'm living with my g/f who has been putting up with my zombie talk for one year last week. I am shop supervisor at an automotive repair shop and have an associates in supply chain management. I spend too much money on guns, and I am trying to spend more time on shooting them to further my skills. I have been reloading for about six months and its the best firearm-related move I've made so far. I've seen much of the US when I got to ride with my stepdad in his semi truck back in the nineties. Lived in three states and been to 29 others. Gas prices keep me from traveling too far these days, but I have recently discovered the wonders of the Michigan Upper Peninsula and am hoping to do some exploring and some camping in my new-to-me pop-up camper. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. "Hey, yet another Missouriac! We ought to get together sometime after we move North and send some lead downrange!"How soon do you plan on moving back? I'd be honored to meet you guys in person. I need to get motivated and get some more time behind my SCAR. I know a few of the indiginous StL population uses the streets for live fire practice, but where do the normal law abiding folks shoot at up there? I usually shoot here on the farm myself. You'll probably have an easier time at finding work up here, especially with your degrees. Not sure how you feel about it, but metro police is always advertising for officers. You might also try defense mapping around broadway and arsenal, those guys make some dough, $30+/hr. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Hello! My name is Braydon, I am 17 years old and I live on the sunny Gold Coast of Australia! I was born in a town 4 hours inland from here called Toowoomba, I moved here when I was 5 years old and have only been back there twice, once to visit friends and the other time to help clean up in the town after there was massive flooding. As soon as I moved here I instantly fell in love with the beaches and the ocean. When I got into my teen years I took up Surfing and Body Boarding on weekends with my friends. I spent nearly every weekend from when I was 13 through to 16 either in the ocean or on the beach. Surfing and Body boarding were my stress relievers and my way to escape. I'd get up on Saturday mornings at 4 and catch the bus down the beach, just so I could sit in the ocean and watch the sun rise over the waves. I've stopped surfing and body boarding this year as I have started working 4 days a week and the other 3 are spent at TAFE (Training and further education) where I am studying Interactive digital media, which incorporates website design, game design, app coding and all sorts of stuff of that nature. I am still undecided of what I want to do as a career, I am trying not to worry too much as I am still only young. I have been working at the same fruit shop for nearly 5 years now, I got the job when I turned 13 and have been there ever since. Everyone is really nice and I enjoy working there. I love spending time outside and I don't really like to be kept indoors too long and I love making things, as you can probably tell by my profile. And last but definitely not least, tomorrow I am going for my P plates license. (Which will allow me to drive without a supervisor) SO WISH ME LUCK! :D 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

*mixes a Jack and Ginger*My name is Casey and I live in Columbia, South Carolina. Grew up similar to our host here. Used to say I was a "high tech redneck" but the line has been blurred over the years. I can do a little of everything because if I wasn't shooting or playing video games with my cousin, I probably had my nose in a book researching something that caught my fancy. Former US Army field artilleryman with the 3rd Armoured Calvary Regiment. Did more training with raiding houses and civilian affairs than actual artillery work. The only place I figured I could put all that time behind a trigger to a good cause lol. Now I'm a full time student closing in on my AA but I'd rather go EMT. Part time, I work at the hell hole (Walmart). Though the job lets me expand my gun collection and survival gear so it's whatever. Definitly enjoy this place by the way *lights up a cig and takes a drag* 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

<Grabs a seat on the step, and grabs a beer out of the cooler he brought>I'm Michael, but have been called Loki since I was about 7. I'm 33 now, and probably haven't matured much since then, haha. I spent a bit of time in the military, traveled a bit there. Before that I traveled around much the same, I grew up a bit nomadic, and haven't really sat still since. I don't really have roots anywhere, though I consider myself a New Yorker. I currently live in a small "city" in PA. I have a pretty well rounded knowledge base I think. Military, security; some old world knowledge. I am half Sioux, and my grandparents are still on reservation. They are a people deeply rooted in tradition; and so I have been fortunate enough to gain some skills from them. I make bows, know a lot about edible plants, learned tracking, and hunting from them; some things that are useful. I'm currently a contractor, but I supplement my income with carpentry, and bow making skills. I love to learn and try new things, I also love to teach what I know. I tend to keep people at arms length, but once I decide not to, I'm hard to get rid of. I have beautiful children, but dislike their respective mothers...haha. I am a clown by nature, and will always likely be nomadic. I enjoy a good conversation, a cold beer, a good laugh, and nearly anything outdoors. I'm familiar with guns, but would be perfectly happy to never pick one up again for anything other than entertainment. I have a knowledge of explosives, and feel the same about them as I do the guns. Now you all know as much about me as people who have known me for years...hahaha 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

My name is Steven and I'm 23 years old. I live in a small town near Hannibal in Missouri.Used to live in Hannibal but a combination of a douchbag attitude, a love for conflict, and an extreme lack of impulse control led to either eventually going to juvie or moving. So we moved here with my mothers eventual husband and I'm unfortunatly stuck here since jobs are very difficult to come by outside tourist season. Right now my criteria for the job I want is that I don't want to swim in human waste and i don;t want to take my clothes off a dance. I'm slowly grinding cash together but it's not enough to give me a comfortable buffer as yet. I'm slowly grinding into a GED as well. Too slowly sometimes. I always seem to overthink myself and try to get as close to insuring success as possible before I act. This at times leads to not doing anything. I struggle between the Christian attitude of appreciating what I have and this deeply ingrained pessimism I carry around. I also deal with depression that at times is severe enough to make me leave my knives at home. I enjoy music and am not picky on the genre as I can find music I like in all of them. I am very fond of heavy metal and Johnny Cash though. I also like gaming of all kinds. I am a book hog. I will sometimes read 5 books at the same time and hate getting rid of them. I'm a loner by choice and can get buy with very little human contact for long stretches of time. And to spite my natural need for privacy ask me a question and I'll try to answer. ^^ 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

BUT you're also one of the most intelligent people it has ever been my displeasure to ague with. Get your GED, and get your **** together my friend. Whether you like people or not, I believe you have a lot to offer, and are above the situation you find yourself in. Do you find this valuable? |

"Your douche attitude? You're very opinionated but you're not a douche."I broke into the locker room and filled the showerheads with industrial dye (blue), smeared crap inside the school heating vents in the middle of winter, flew into rages daily, stole, lied, cheated, and was not above manipulating the feelings of others just because. Sometimes it was funny but it was the mean side of funny. The worst of me you have seen is not even close to my worse. It seems like I've done a total 180 from how I used to be. For the better I think. Do you find this valuable? |

"Holy shît, I could not ever see that."I was a mean bastard. I have done things (don't ask. I'll never tell) that have made me rethink my view on myself and who I am. I hate that I did them but an idea that I've clung to is that it isn't the lack of mistakes that makes us great but how we slog through the fallout of our worst deeds. I may have done some things I'm not proud of but every single one taught me about myself and my abilities. I'm grateful to be the recipient of these lessons jagged as they were. Take some advice. Learn the lessons the first time because the second rounds usually come at the tip of a boot headed for your nuts. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I would "borrow" one of TR's beers, but I'm not sure what he's drinking, so I'll bring my own *opens a bottle of Spitting Feathers*So my name is Ben, and I'm British. Currently 17 and in sixth form, I'm looking at several universities for either chemistry, physics or engineering. I'm fairly antisocial, but I have a group of friends that I know and trust, and don't care for the sort of people my age who only talk about how drunk they got last weekend. I am a self-confessed minor geek (I haven't built any gadgets yet) and I'm a casual gamer on the weekends. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

(Cont.)The geek in me loves historical reenactment, I work part time every summer for a local group called B.O.O.M (brotherhood of oceanic mercenaries) as a pirate at a local renaissance fair, we do, live steel combat and blackpowder cannon/carbine/pistol displays as well as teach people about the golden age of piracy through, stories, music and artifacts. I am an avid shooter and have an unhealthy love affair for firearms/swords/knives according to my wife, I also spend too much money on these "things" according to her as well..sometimes I wish the S would hit the fan just so I can prove to her it's all necessary I am the blade in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards those in need. I pledge my life and honor to those who cannot defend themselves, for this night and all nights to come Sorry to have rambled, I didn't realize I had so much to say *mixes another double and sits back to relax* 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Beer? No thanks, brought my own.*taps the pony keg on a locally brewed hefeweizen from a German restaurant* My name is Jason and I am a sex addict. Wait. Wrong meeting. I just turned 30 about 3 weeks ago. I was born and raised in Oklahoma City and lived here my whole life except the 5 years spent in the Marines. I was a Russian linguist during a time when Mother Russia was quite dormant. But I also learned to drive LAVs and drove one all over western Iraq in 2005. I continue to serve my country as a contractor doing IT work. I have a wife of 8 years this July and an adopted daughter (pending court in September.) I am currently working towards my bachelors in elementary education. For me, zombies represent the most primal fear: an unwinnable situation. It is the deadliest puzzle I can think of. So by preparing for the potential collapse of society, I exercise my own fears. It also satisfies the hunter in me. We civilized folks don't often get the chance to REALLY protect and provide for our family, but this scenario at least gives me a little comfort knowing that I could. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. *steals the jack from Treelegs and the rest of the beers in TR's cooler*Lot of interesting people here. Maybe we should do a contest for the ZSWD Most Interesting Man (or Woman) in the World. However, you must meet these criteria- -Police often question you, just because they find you interesting. -You once brought a knife to a gunfight, just to even the odds. -Won the lifetime achievement award...twice. -Taught a German Shepard how to bark in Spanish -You can speak French in Russian. -Your shirts never wrinkle.
