If an adult acts stupid, they're called stupid. If an adult acts immature, they're called immature. If a child acts either of those ways, they're called a child. While I understand where you are coming from and respect your opinions, I ask that some users tone down the borderline minor bashing. We've discussed sharing the knowledge that we hold, not only to adults but to minors. We're a site based around survival, and the point is to share knowledge with one another and do it in a fun environment. What about that requires you to near adulthood? Oh gosh, we discuss firearms. We also discuss the proper use and safety measures that must be taken to use a firearm. Oh gosh, we discuss ways to make fire. We also discuss how to keep fires contained. Considering that most minors can't afford to buy a computer, or pay for internet, then that has to mean that their parents are not watching them or have given their permission. Regardless of why minors are here, minors are here and as long as they do not cause problems it is truly none of our business. Staff members included. Stupid children without a source of education become stupid adults. Better the future, and replace some of the garbage that is in kids heads with useful information. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "For the most part I'm not interested in discussing anything serious with children."Really? I'm 17, I cannot officially drive, and I have never had to deal with someone making threats against me that were not spoken in jest (yet). However, I am just as comfortable with adults as people my own age, possibly more so, and regularly engage people in complex discussions simply to keep my mind (and theirs) sharp. I can drive better than most people my own age, even those with licenses, though I'm nowhere near a perfect driver, I've been learning for close to 3 years now. I have dealt with several extremely drunk people (tangent- if a drunk person ever gets uppity, say something completely unexpected, such as "they have much lower walls in spain than here" and the drunk person will ususally engage you in friendly conversation about wall height), several of whom were/are my friends, but also complete strangers who I've never seen since. I don't get drunk too often, I don't see the appeal, and whilst I enjoy parties and don't dance whilst sober, I dislike logging onto facebook and seeing half of my friends bragging about how drunk they were last weekend. *sighs* The youth of today is not what it was. *climbs off soapbox* 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Yeah and guess what, kids that spend waking moments on Xbox are not mature, those that actually get off their as$e$ and do something are. I was that second group. Do you find this valuable? |

"Yet we spend how much to educate kids these days? The sources of knowledge out there are vast and mostly ignored." Are you kidding me with this first bit? Are you really comparing the knowledge that this site offers to some form of Public/Private Education? And yes, I do agree with that last part, but once again this is a site that supposedly joys itself in teaching others. The ZSDW has an entire "Survival Guide" made up for the reason of offering knowledge. In any serious conversation, members chide young ones as being useless or mere "Z-Bait". I've even seen young ones be referred to as *furniture* by a very respected member because of the lack of knowledge/skills that tends to come with having lived longer. Now I'm seeing users say that If young ones come on here in an attempt to change this, then they aren't welcome. Seems like a "screwed if ya do, screwed if ya don't" situation, doesn't it? "How could you not make that comparison Hell Raiser? If you can't learn a damn thing in dumbed down public school how are you going to learn the complicated things that will kill you if you f#ck it up. Most of the darling teens out here can't tell the difference between thunder and a wet a fart. I also love the resumes that they create and the titles that they like to use. Now if you don't mind it is off to bed to start another depressing work week when I arise from my slumber. Now if you don't mind it is off to bed to start another depressing work week when I arise from my slumber. As I informed someone today, the vast mojority of the problems in our society is not just stupid kids and a lack of overall respect, but stuck up, pompous adults who can't accept criticism and forget that is respect is earned by all. Children learn by example up until they can make their own choices. The onus falls upon the generation before them to lead by example, rather than acting like it's entirely their own damn fault. As sad as it is, this site is the poster child for this. New, young members appear with ideas that have not been seen or modifications to previous ones, and are met with hostility and arrogance for the sheer reason that they have yet to live a full life. 85% of this site's older members have become what many chastise as lazy teachers and believe that children these days have it easy. Well, bull f*cking s#it you arrogant pricks. Many come from disjointed homes or shattered familes from a young age and many are truly stronger in will than anyone who has the audacity to call them furniture or even imply that is all they are good for. For one to learn, the teacher must be competent and I see my generation and the one before mine distinctly lacking in that area. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I find it object able when large corporations and governments take it into their own hands to automatically block content like i need my hand held or some thingThe fact that i have to waste my own time to remove an option i never asked for on a product i am paying for is insulting and irritating I in a few more years it will only be worse its pretty obvious it will be slowly but surely more and more laws are passed to tighten control over things while most of the population happily accepts it The great irony of the whole young people are dumb argument every one likes to jump on kids for playing their xbox and so on but no one takes a step back and ask why? Why do they do it and not go outside? the truth hurts and the fact of the matter is if a kid goes outside and has fun their is alway some cranky old fart that complains they are making to much noise or some other nonsense the truth of it is what i could do as a child can no longer be done there is no longer any lighting a camp fire in the back yard or building a fort on the vacant land or making a billy cart to go down a hill There is no more doing things like playing with a slingshot in the backyard or playing with toy guns pretty much all the things i used to do have now been outlawed if you light a fire in your suburban back yard you get a fine for it if you ride a billy cart down a hill on a road you get in trouble for it if you do any thing outside in the real world that is free of charge to do then you are most likely doing some thing illegal or annoying a some one else who will call the cops , abuse you or argue with your parents thank god i am not a kid any more the tragic thing is the older people who have made the world this way and yet still look down on on kids for not going outside when there is very little to do unless you live on a rural location 3 out of 3 found this valuable. I can't make the comparison because the failings of the education system aren't relevant to this discussion. Though since you care enough to bring it up...Are you really going to go so far as to blame the children? One moment you want to say that children cannot think or be held responsible, but the next you want to say that it is the childs fault that they do poor academically? It couldn't be that their teacher is doing something wrong, or maybe that their parents are! Don't even get me started on comparing Calculus to making a shelter. And trust me, I know that life isn't fair. After all, I could be getting a little more sleep in. But instead, I'm continuing this lovely little chat with you. In the morning, I get to wake up and perform ANOTHER full days worth of manual labor for free, under the hot Texas sun. But I don't complain because honestly I wasn't asked to do it. I see that the work has to be done and so I do it. By the "resume" and "title" remarks, I'm going to assume that you're not used to having a conversation with a well worded teenager, that answers to a bold name and has a flashy profile, each of which properly fit his attitude. Well...This is going well...Maybe we should add a new topic to the list. No talking about age. Because an age group who will not be named gets all butt hurt about it and throws hissy fits because of their raging hormones. That's right, I'm talking to you all members over the age of 65. You guys are very volatile at that age. You retire and then go wild. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Tis very easy to blame a teacher, for the failings of their students. My brother is a teacher and I feel for him, some years he does not have much to work with, Your parents only have to provide food on the table, clothes on your back, and a roof over your head. If they opt to do more good for them, if not oh well. So why should I compare difficult subjects, if you can't learn complicated things in a classroom how are you going to do it in the world. School is a great place to develope the ability to learn. Your bitching about manual labor to the wrong crowd, service with a smile my boy, I can think of alot of things to call you that would also be "Bold" and match your profile. What I was refering to was how hollow your resume is. You claim to be a jack of all trades and master of none type of person, yet what actual background do you have? Your an artist huh? Me to I can toss dirt and rocks into piles!!! You like guns? So do I but are you even able to buy one legally? Do you find this valuable? |

You can't just paint with such a broad brush. That goes to those under and over 18. Older people always try to shift blame to the current generation while ignoring where they messed up at in creating the society that the children now live in that breeds whatever ill they complain about. You control how to market to teens, politics and vote for people that go to war, but don't sign up yourself, but send you neighbors child. How about we try to encourge the newer generation and guide them instead of sitting in the bleachers at the football game talking trash about how back in your day, you would've caught that ball or threw it further. It's like ya'll either coddle them to death or leave them to figure it out. Find a middle ground, oh wait you can't, just look at Congress. Let's look at that grandmother on the bus. She gets completely trashed and one of the fathers of one of the kids says he isn't worried about punishing his kid because society is harrasing his family and that is enough punishment. Awesome parenting 30+ group. Hold up, I thought ya'll knew what ya'll were doing? But then a bunch of teens make videos apologizing for their behavior and age group? Cont'd... ...18 and under, Educate yourselves and ignore the detractors. Teach your peers and look up to the accomplishments of those before you, recognize their failures and do better. If you just try to float through life with everything handed to you, you will in the end have nothing. Don't blame the teacher. In the end, you are responsible for you. Your education(or lack of one) is your own fault. You have access to more knowledge than any other generation this planet has seen. USE IT! Thank your elders for that. You guys and gals are a pretty tough bunch. Growing up during the 2nd Great Depression I have no doubts that ya'll will leave a positive impact on this planet. You will however, have to earn your place at the table. Cleaning up after the generations before you is a great start, but ya'll have to pull each other heads out of each others asses before you can even start. Sometimes I'm afraid you don't have enough of you with the common sense needed to help them all.And since we are throwing them out there, I'm 27. Do you find this valuable? |

"...18 and under, Educate yourselves and ignore the detractors."I learned how to do quite a lot of things by simply refusing to go away when asked nicely (and not so nicely), but in the end, I learn what I wanted to. I try to share my knowledge where possible, and I will blame my teachers, but only if they're too soft on me. Much as I dislike pulling all nighters for small pieces of homework, I know that I'm learning the penalties associated with poor self discipline. Grit your teeth and keep going is pretty much how I can do a 6-hour attention span if I have to (though I do tend to need to do some major physical exertion after to work my system back to normal) Do you find this valuable? |

I will drop the subject of education, and even the subject of age. I find that each respective subject is going nowhere. I will make this final post, and unless provoked shall retire from this thread. At LWJ2009 - First, I'd like to clarify that I was in no way complaining about doing manual labor. I even mentioned that I had volunteered myself. I was just stating a fact, similar to your own statement. "Now if you don't mind it is off to bed to start another depressing work week when I arise from my slumber. " Second... My "resume" is "hollow" because I don't feel that I need to be validated by a list of past exploits, nor will I use them as a crutch or a stool to stand on. My profile and username are meant to be distinctly me and that is what they are. You will not see pictures of firearms on my profile, nor will you see a list of credentials because I have nothing to prove. On my profile, I've made no claims. I have only stated facts. It is pointless to argue for or against these facts, because I know them to be true. My word is my word, take it or leave it. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
