My problem
Jun 25 2012, 11:49 PM EDT | Post edited: Jun 25 2012, 11:49 PM EDT
So when I was 9ish I bought my first trap gun, a Mossburg 500 youth. when I was about 13 I learned what a choke tube was so I tried to take it out, but I couldn't, now, a few years later I am still trying to get it out but it just won't budge. My question is what would be the best way to get it of without hurting the gun? 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Reason one TO CLEAN THE DAMN THING!!

Well, first thing that comes to mind is to soak it in a little penetrating lube like WD-40 or something similar....from both ends though, may mean removing the barrel and putting a bit in a cup/container and letting it soak for awhile. After that CAREFULLY try and unscrew the choke.

If that doesn't work, you may need to take it to a gunsmith. Nothing wrong with that, just don't make the same mistake twice.

"How long should I let it sit for?"
As long as it needs, maybe 30 mins, maybe a few hours.

If you can't do it even if it's been a few hours, just take it to a gun smith

"Just a regular Choke tube wrench "
Those crappy T ones that come with the tubes? Maybe try an extended one that gives more leverage.

Pretty much what I'd do. I'd let it soak over night, get a good choke wrench(Remington makes a pretty good spinner type one) and then try it out. Those T types are garbage and you can't get enough leverage.

Can you use the remmy one for a mossy?

Actually I bet you could, I think it's just the threads that are different.

Nope but it was fun to shoot. Everybody keeps saying its a turkey choke but I don't know. Maby the reason it's stuck is because I shot a few slugs with the choke. Do you find this valuable?

That shouldn't hurt it, slugs are designed to collapse if going through a choke.
