Nice plan... But with respect i think your plan has some flaws ...
1. Concerning the paragraph under the heading "locations", u say a river could be used both as water source and also as a form of natural defense. I'm concerned that if a horde of zombies attack, their blood might spill on the river. This will render the river infectious to drink? Also if the river passes through a city with lots of zombified people, some fights in the city between living people and the undead could have spilled zombie blood into the river, in this case we don't know if zombie blood has spilled into it or not?
2. U drew a plan that shows the farming field being placed around the killing zone. Which means when zombies attack they will run over the farming field, contaminating it? I would put the farming field inside and the killing zone on the outer side.

Water being contaminated from Zombie bodies when a river is used as a defensive feature.
1) You should have stored water inside the settlement encase of attack by raiders/zombies.
2) The water will flush/rinse/wash away the contamination. Once the corpses are removed don't use it for a few hours to a day
3) Use should be boiling and or treating/putrefying it before use anyways.

As for contamination on crops. Good point and could be a issue no matter where you place the crops. I agree the crops should be planted closer to the settlement. But still need a buffer zone of bare ground for a killing zone. Planting the rows so they away from the settlement to reduce cover for raiders and zombies to hide in.
Now if you build fences/barriers so it channels the zombies through patches between patches of crops. This way zombies will mostly stay in clear areas.
Now if zombies get into the crops wait till they exit to clear areas before killing them. Then you can back track the zombies path and destroy/sanitize them where contact/contamination is a problem.
Don't forget to fix any breaches they made so others can't fallow and contaminate the crops again.

It doesn't make any difference if you just let zombies walk on the crops isntead of killing them right while they are on the crops. It's because most zombies have disfigured bodies (as zombie movies depict) and the blood from their wounds drip on the ground as they walk. That's one matter u have to consider.
So u can't let them walk over the crops at all cost.

And also I just saw in your profile that you have cute pets. What would u do to them in case zombies strike and they became a huge liability, costing u resources u could use for your group's survival?

I'm bugging in. I live on/next to a family farm.

The dogs will be used for security as they are now.
The cats will stay the same as pest control.

They all are also companions/family so we will protect them.

Nice ... Don't throw them away .. Keeping them would be worth it in the long run .. Survivors would need something to prevent them from getting stressed
