Firearms for Cheap Bastards
Aug 3 2012, 1:56 PM EDT
Since the weapons election is in full swing this year I'd like everyone to help put together a list of budget firearms. You know the kind that gun snobs look down on for no good reason. The kind of gun you can toss in the truck without having to worry about scratching the stock. Firearms for cheap bastards in other words. What are some inexpensive firearms that are solid built that you'd recomend to someone who doesn't have a lot of dough or doesn't want to spend a lot of dough on firearms? We've done this before but it never hurts to throw some good picks out there for folks who are out to get the most bang for their buck out of a firearm. Besides saving money on guns leaves you more money for other preps, it 'aint all about defense afterall. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Most all the Marlin and Mossberg ,semi-auto and bolt action .22lr's. They are all pretty much inexpensive "brandnew" and really cheap second hand generally $125 used to $175-$200 new....and through my experience pretty durable.ANy of the Ruger P series pistols used you can find for around $250 Mini -14 I think falls out of the cheap bracket, they have gotten way to expensive, I only payed $175 or so for mine new, but now they are in the $600 range. Savage /Stevens Bolt guns are fairly inexpensive,as far as bolt hunters go, and are accurate and durable..no bells and whistles, just workhorses. 10/22 are inexpensive and really so found used, and with over 6 million of them produced since release, plentiful. I've got quite a list of cheap guns. because by your definition, I'm a cheap bastard. I <3 cheap guns Hi Point C9 Hi Point 40 Hi Point 45 Phoenix 22 Cobra Arms pistols Makarov P-64 TTC Taurus 85 Mosin Nagant SKS most .22lr rifles store brand shotguns & rifles H&R Handi Rifle NEF shotguns Norinco shotguns & rifles & pistols (they're a little rough) Kel Tec SU16 (used) if you're really cheap and don't mind doing a little bit of work: just about any junk gun, handgun banned by the GCA of 1968, or Saturday night special. Raven, Lorcin, RG, Jennings, Bryco, Davis, Jimenez. they're cheap guns that wit ha little bit of additional work becomes excellent cheap handguns. or you buy police trade in used S&W revolvers off bud's gun shop. except the Kel Tec Su16, H&R rifle, and SKS everything on that list above can be found for under $200. Or just pick up a Colt AR in the police parking lot. It was just on the news that a county sheriff in Allegan County, Michigan was transferring his gear from one car to another and left his AR laying on the ground. He realized the rifle was gone the next day. Needless to say some one picked it up and took it home with them, now the cops are asking for the persons to return it and have no idea where it went or who has it. On top of that they informed everyone watching the story on the news that all of the officers keep AR's in their patrol cars when they are off shift, in the trunks of their cars. I can see some police cars getting their trunks popped open very soon. Sorry for taking the thread side ways but I thought it was a funny way that someone got an expensive AR for Cheap. Cheap guns: Maverick Shot guns Old used .38 special revolvers - always around The Khar hand gun line (new $350, for a quality gun) Used Glocks for about $300-350 That's all I can think of now. A lot of good guns have been covered already, so there's not really too much I can add there.I can't really speak for any areas other than mine, so I'd like to offer my .02 on a different part of cheap gun-buying. Used guns. I've found a number of good deals simply by bumming around the local pawnshops as often as possible. Some good deals I've found: S&W 586, $380. Winchester 1894, $200. S&W 915, $250. Davis Warner SXS, $100. Along with a number of deals that I regrettably passed on (such as a Ruger Super Blackhawk for around $300.) So, instead of looking for a specific model for cheap, I recommend just keeping a close eye out and springing on whatever deals pop up. Although, I should note: it seems like surplus Taurus Model 82s have become very common recently. They seem to be good guns, roughly comparable to a Smith Model 10, and can be had for very good prices. May be something to look into. Do you find this valuable? |

"I've said it before, Howa makes a decent rifle for a good price. "This is very true! My dad bought a Howa 1500 .223 that we love. Very nice trigger and quite accurate. Do you find this valuable? |

Marlin 336's seem to be very cheap in the States, from what I can tell. Over here they're a bit more, but still well under $1000. It's hard to think of a better SHTF bang for your buck gun - especially if you're left handed!

"lol, weapons election.O_o Cheap gun ideas not a weapon election. "AK-47s belong on the battlefield"~Barack Hussein Obama. He'd like to do away with guns but he won't. For the record Mitt Romney would as well if people understood what he was about before he started running for president. We haven't a clue who the real Romney is, he is a closed book. A generic Republican candidate with no real solid convictions about pretty much anything as far as I can tell. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

The Norinco M93 Woodsman in 22 lr a cheap handgun with cheap ammo lol I got one thrown in for free with some recent purchases and well its a copy of the colt woodsman. I haven't had a problem with it yet but i've only had it a little while. It is a cheap little gun I can use to to work on my accuracy with pistols. I am not the best shot with handguns lol.
