Tear My strategy Apart :)

I have a number of plans for a zombie threat and I wanna see how well I've really thought this through. So your challenge is to think like a zombie and kill me. If you can see a problem with the defenses then so could they. BASIC DETAILS Building Name - Gilson Manor Building Type - Modernized 19th Century Manor House Floors - 3 plus and underground garage Location - Britain, Midlands, Countryside Grounds - 200 Acres, 30 of which are a lake, 50 are heavily wooded area (furthest points from the house), rest is open grass and the house Primary Defenses (Exterior) - 10 foot electric fence with wrought iron gates. When the gates are closed a concrete pillar rises up from the ground (electrically) and stops the gates from being forced open. Automated turrets (powered through mains electricity and backup generator) fires highly compressed balls of gas capable of knocking over intruders. Underground garage is built with 3-inch reinforced steel doors leading to the exterior and 5-inch titanium door leading to the interior. A large fuel tank is embedded under the floor and provides fuel to vehicles. Primary Defenses (Manor and Interior) - 3 inch Titanium plates embedded within all exterior walls. Each window has 5 inch titanium rods that slide into place upon to stop windows being access points. These are held inside the wall with electromagnets. In event of a power failure the rods drop down and are held in place with their own weight (100kg each) and cover the windows. Main door is solid oak with spring loaded deadlocks that lock into place in the event of a power failure. Secondary Defenses (Exterior) - Anti-personnel mines can be remotely activated around the property. They are split into sections and each section covers a 20 acre radius. 6 motion sensing cannons on the roof of the manor are able to shoot anything within a 100 foot radius of the manor. They fire .30 cal bullets.... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Continued -Secondary Defenses (Interior) - There is a well stocked armory on the second floor of the manor. Every door can be sealed with heavy wood in the event of a breach. There are no other defenses. Final Options - 1 panic room on second floor. Solid titanium frame and paneling with exactly 30 days worth of food for 4 people. Survival supplies included. Office on ground floor is built out of bulletproof glass and can be deadlocked to create an air-tight room. There is only 1 entrance and a single person escape route. This route takes the user to an underground tunnel and allows them access to a hermetically sealed car. The exit of the tunnel is sealed and can only be opened when the car crosses a pressure pad which detonates charges and causes it to open. Finally there is a helicopter on the roof. Fully fueled and ready to fly. This can take 10 people. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Sounds awesome. I'm not going to "call bullsh!t" on the liberal use of titanium, or turrets, or even the mines. You have to know that will happen. Instead I will stay to the basics.1) You don't own it. You will not gain access to it when SHTF. Just not gonna happen. 2) If by some miracle you just happened to be in there when they locked it down, then what? Do you know how to operate any of that amazing defense system? 3) There is not a fence around 200 acres of anything. So, what is your perimeter? Starving to death in a fantastic fortress would really suck. 4) A helicopter that can hold 10 will not be on a roof. Even if that were the case... who the hell is going to fly it? 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

"1) You don't own it."That's enough to put a hole in your plan. No ownership, no control, no guarantees. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

You mentioned electric fences and a rising pillar, I would imagine the power would be down so I don't see much use in them unless it had a generator and ALOT of fuel.

"Well there is a lake ;)Ahhh... so the basics weren't sufficient, I see... alright, here we go: 5) It's not real. There isn't that much titanium, and/or bulletproof glass at embassies, drug kingpin strongholds, or anywhere else that really exists, and isn't controlled by the government, even across the pond there. 6) Landmines are not used by Britain, the end. 7) Motion sensor turrets.. where to begin? 8) Even if I'm wrong, and it all exists... how do you intend to be the one inside? Surely you are not motion sensor activated .30 cal turret proof. 9) Let's say you get in. Then what? 10) How many do you intend to have with you in this fantasy compound? How do you intend to feed them? What do you intend to do when the generators are out of fuel. (Surely if you have motion sensor turrets, a helicopter that seats 10, landmines, and drop down bars, you would have generators) 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Well there is a lake ;)How you going to get to the lake? All your windows, doors. and gates are locked shut without power. And the lake is not easily or safely accessed. Plus really easy to poison and or contaminate. Why titanium when weight isn't an issues? Steel would be cheaper and more easily installed and repaired/maintained. Why so much electrically dependent defenses? Power failure equals zero defenses and electronics are just another thing to go wrong. Why a hermetically sealed car? Once it leaves the garage in it you are exposed to all those contamination. A billionaire will have a more classic walled castle on some isolated island or mountain top. He can just take his private aircraft to his BOL. And a billionaire will have a living breathing security detail. Like MajorDamage said this is more a fantasy BOL plan and nothing on strategy or even tactics. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Automated turrets (powered through mains electricity and backup generator) fires highly compressed balls of gas capable of knocking over intruders. "What happens if someone starts a fire? Better hope that's compressed air and not some form of gas that will blow the entire perimeter to bits. Also for you new guys, there's a reason why people like MD so much. Read #7 ;) Do you find this valuable? |

I like how his turrets "knock down" intruders instead of shooting them."Oh no, you knocked me down! Well I never! I was going to murder and eat you but now that you've knocked me down with a fart cannon I suppose I'll just wander away peacefully." 10 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

im going to tear your "plan" down and rebuild it.Home on a piece of property, access to wildlife and water. Sturdy fence surrounds the home, constructed just prior to zombie hordes. so we've got a secure location that is out in the middle of nowhere. you need to: be able to grow or kill food, and prepare it be able to siphon water from lake and purify it maintain the aura of being hidden i'd invest inhigh power air rifles honestly, or arrow/bolt based weaponry. even in britain you can defend yourself against something if you're isolated. note: i'd expand upon this little compoud. Theoretically, i'd imagine having a footballfield size piece of land to live on. maybe double that. and as a buffer zone. I'd also have my grown foods within eyeshot but clsoe to the lake. ihope that lake is close to the residence. even doing just this, you'll spend thousands, millions if you're buying the property. inan apoc, it doesnt matter though, but you do need supplies. I'd have an escape route, early detection system, etc. there are so many things one coulddo to improve isolationville. idk if its worth anyone's read, its more of a teen girl's book, but its zombie themed.. called the forest of hands and teeth. . might give perspective, but im not sure. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
