Here's a suggestion about how to deal with the Mayan prophecy.....Stop being an arse and believing crap! Mayans didn't predict the end of the world their calender just ended. They also didn't have leap years so their calender ended 7 years ago. It's passed. 4 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'd be more concerned with people who take the 2012 thing too seriously. Somewhere out there, is a person/s who truly believes the world is going to end, and that person/s will think they have nothing to lose. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Crocodile and Oldanny pretty much covered it.The Mayans didn't even predict their own demise. So forget what all the doomsday predictions say about this one. Predicting doomsday and especially for TV is a way for people to get their names in lights. Do you find this valuable? |

Actually the formula to convert the Mayan calender to the current gregorian calender is a bit more complicated than that...but one of the men involved in creating the formula came forward awhile ago and admitted they had made a few mistakes.Mistakes that mean the line up of the two calenders could be off by as much as 50 years, early or late! But beside that, they never predicted an ending, or an apocolypse, they predicted a change or new era for the Mayans/Humans...they never made it. Do you find this valuable? |

"Here's a suggestion about how to deal with the Mayan prophecy.....Stop being an arse and believing crap!Leap year? Leap year is a contrivance needed to adjust the inaccurate modern calendars, like the Gregorian Calendar, which is based on a solar year. The Mayan Calendar system is highly accurate, it is also highly complex, and is an astronomical calendar, as opposed to a solar calendar. The Mayan calendar does not end, the era ends and the next era begins. On December 21, 2012 the 13th baktun ends, and the 14th begins. Do you find this valuable? |

Do you ever stop and think to yourself "Man, what would the Mayans do in this situation?"I don't. So I'm not gonna pay attention to their calendar either. Do you find this valuable? |

"Leap year? Leap year is a contrivance needed to adjust the inaccurate modern calendars, like the Gregorian Calendar, which is based on a solar year.Lunar, galactic, or solar it doesn't matter. Neither does how accurate it is. It doesn't predict doomsday of anything or anyone. So 12-21-12 is just another day of no importance. That is besides I go on vacation. Now for some that will be doomsday lol Do you find this valuable? |

how many times must I say that due to the errors in our calendar it means that 2012 is not the end of the 13th plaktoon (sp) of the mayan long count calendar. The end of the long count calandar is NOT the end of time, it has never been the end of time. The 13th plaktoon is nothing but a result of the base 20 math system which was prevolent in mesoamerica until the spanish conquest and the symbols used for numbers. Even if it were an end of time prediction the date is wrong as the end of the 13th plaktoon (sp) occured in no later than 2007 as the Gregorian calander is at a bare minimum of 5 years off. We screwed up when we tried to figure out how long ago Christ was born. The church counted papal reigns, they miscounted because one pope changed his papal name. The birth of christ is just the day the Roman calander switched from the mythic Zero day for romans to the birth of Christ. We added AD and BC to the Roman system because we changed the zero date, the change in numbers didn't delete time. Romans wouldn't have used BC >< but the Julian calendar was used until Gregorian calendar was introduced in 1582. I have no clue how to spell plaktoon lol I may understand the mayan number system but their language is weird =/ and I don't speak it lol Julian calandar is the Roman calandar as it was renamed after Julius Ceasar to honour/ sabotage him by the roman senate.
