Possibility Recovery
Jun 13 2007, 4:07 PM EDT
This is an interesting topic. Anyone have any theories? I myself would consider it almost impossible, unless of course we were talking about the rage virus. Normal undead are dead to begin with. With them being animated, and you take away that animation, they would revert back to being just dead. But I would deem it possible with the rage virus for obvious reasons. One would just need to discover an anitibody that could battle and defeat the virus. Ha! But how do you administer the antibodies without getting infected yourself? Even if you used some sort of projectile "gun", they would surely be on you before it takes affect....

if you watch the extras to 28 days later the writers had the idea that the "blood rage zombie" could be cured, but only if you completely replaced every ounce of blood in the host with fresh uncontaminated blood. in the Resident Evil sense of the dead - well, 90% of the host bodies were already clinically dead, any recovery from the infected state would result in a dead corpse. For damn of the dead this is about the only case because the source was not directly identified and if indeed it was/is a virus that alters the brain to produce a bio-hunting creature, the virus may have the potential of being stopped. In a real scenario I would point out this: if the long and dead are getting back up from exposure to an airbourne virus/particulate - the only recovery means (IMO) is not to be in that area because even inert, necrotic tissue is not immune ( similar to The Bone Snatcher [2003]). Considering we dont even know the cause of the disease recovery would not seem possible. Now if the disease is man made ,there should be some form of cure, if not a antibody, that would protect properly innouculated people from a zombie bite. As for some extraterrestial outbreak , the possibility of recovery would seem negligable. This is the problem we have to deal with befor we can even hope to administer any kind of cure.

"however what if it is not a virus"If we are not dealing with a virus, than the cause must be spiritual, such as a curse, or a non- biological(nuclear?) result. Than we are dealing with a singular entity, such as a shaman or a mad scientist type. A virus is the most logical cause for a zombie outbreak. In my opinion that is. Do you find this valuable? |

"true a virus seems the most logical but there is always thaat what if it isnt logical. than what?I have absolutly no idea what comes next. Unless you are talking about a Brian Keene -type situation, the only explination would have to be man made or biological. Do you find this valuable? |

Toxoplasma gondii is a possibility. If a geneticist toyed with that bug who knows.
