I actually like tomahawks alot but you have to have the right training. www.americantomahawk sells high quality tomahawks including one that is just one solid peice of steel. if you need training there are serveral websites selling DVDs to train with the tomahawk including Cold Steel.

no offense torin, but i disagree on needing much training for a tomahawk... i think it acutally takes more training to kill with a knife, because often when you kill with a knife, the enemy bleeds out. a tomahawk can be weilded with sheer brute force as opposed to a knifes finess. if you cut a z's shoulder with a knife, it wont bother him at all, but if you hit it with a tomahawk, you have a good chance of pulverizing the bones or even amputating the limb. i would much prefer a tomahawk to a knife in any blade fighting situations

I'm pretty good at throwing and hitting a standing target but a moving target at 15' is too difficult for me to be accurate. Knives are pretty simple once you get how many rotations the blade will have at a distance. I am not as active with practicing as I would like to be, but if you set 2-3 hours aside just throwing the hawk at targets on a weekend you will get the hang of it. I have never used a hawk or a knife in a fight so it would not be my first pick. Do you find this valuable? |

just a word of warning on tomahawks and hatchets. I was a volunteer search and rescue member for many years and worked with Canadian Armed Forces SAR techs. They had many stories about actual rescues. Many of these stories involved people chopping wood/cutting through ice and burying the hatchet into a knee.pls be careful Do you find this valuable? |
