the term "airborne" is thrown around alot but by definition, there has never been a case of any virus being "airborne". as it stands today its nothing more than a term created by Virologists as a worst case scenario. do not confuse this with aerial transmission.

I do alot of outdoor camping and hiking, so I know how heavy weapons and equipment get. So I keep it simple. Alot of this is adapted camping gear.
1 - Army issued duffel sack (these things are built to last)
1 - 2 gallon jug of water (more water can be found and boiled for sterilization)
1 - 2 magnesium and flint sparkers ( for fire starting)
1 - cotton blanket and pillow ( for sleepytime )
1 - cooking tin and silverware
2 - a small folding knife and larger fixed blade (doubles as a weapon, I've got my Bowie)
1 - hatchet for firewood
1 - a machete for larger underbrush ( zombies might have some trouble out in the brush, doubles as a weapon )
1 - main blunt weapon, a baseball bat is great (remeber zombie's blood is dangerous)
1 - possibly a cut down shotgun for close range (careful of the blood and saliva though)
1 - rifle or pistol for longer range targets ( I go with the M14 or the .357 magnum )
1 - box for containing your ammo ( keep it out of the sun and dry )
1 - "medical pack" with gauze, antisceptic, bandages, etc (I have some first aid knowledge, but I'm not a doc. Course if you get bit you're a goner anyway)
1 - tool bag (for cleaning and maintaining your supplies)
1 - anemities bag ( toothbrush, shampoo, etc.)
Top everything off with tough pants, shirts, a good hat, and a good brain in your head.

I know the carolina's was on Bragg (when not deployed) most of the stuff on your list I carry on my/in my vest. some extra's are in a ruck which I can just dump if needed. ok here are some suggestions. use em or don't your choice.
1. get a pack, camping, hikeing, ruck it don't matter
2. get water blivets, 2qt,5qt, or even the soft 1qt's. because hard jugs take space an have air pocket making splash noise's.
3. change the small folding knife for a multi-tool of some kind.
4. the hatchet can be dumped because the e-tool (small folding shovel.) can cut down small trees. you don't want a bonfire letting everyone know where you are.
5. the pillow you got to carry it although light. does it take up space? check out www.vtarmynavy.com for 5qt blatter canteen. heck for most gear.
6. a vest or something that will be on you. a pistol belt, something that you won't have to stop to open an dig thru to find extra ammo, med tape, or anything else needed.
I'd go on but getting stupid again time to sleep I guess. Oh One big thing when on the bounce anysleep is good sleep, be it 5 minutes leaning on a tree, to 20 face down in shit. sleep mmm.

The book by Max Brooks, called the zombie survival guide, says the virus has always been around, but only small, isolated populations of people have ever seen or been attacked by the infected.
I think that a tribe in some area of the rainforest see a zombie and mistake it for a person in need of help. When they try to help, the zombie will bite 1 of them and they will retreat back to the village to get help for the injured friend. After the injured tribesman has turned into the zombie and started wandering around, its loved ones think that he has healed and will run over to hug the zombified tribesman. This may happen to numerous family members and they may not think that the people bitten will soon become zombies. Pretty soon an entire tribe will be infected and zombies will be straying out to the other villages.
Then some people from an organisation based in a 1st world country may arrive trying to save the rainforest or something. They do not realise the intent of the tribesman stumbling towards them until 1 is bitten. The bitten might try to seek medical attention at a hospital in a larger village or town, somewhere which has an highway leading through or maybe even a small airport. Once in the hospital the infected might bite some of the medical staff who might then be sent home because of their injury. Then the family of the medical staff are in danger, that whole town gets infected except for a few folk who try to get to a city for safety. What happens if while escaping a survivor gets bitten, what happens if they get on a flight to, lets say, AMERICA. What about if when he falls into the pre-zombie coma on the flight and people think hes just asleep. Then there is a zombie roaming around a plane. Planes don't have many weapons so they may think locking the biter in a toilet, tending to the wounds of the bitten until the plane can be landed safely. Then the bitten are taken to hospital and it happens all over again, in the USA.

it's simple, and evilredgrin is right.
let's not kid ourselves, we fantasize about it. we want zombies to come, to turn the world upside down, and for our lives to be our own again.
most of us ARE the kids who sat in the back of class, chose to limp our way through high school, got picked on, and wanted out of society from beginning.
most of us ARE the ones just itching for a reason to shoot, slash, and burn our way through life, deciding our own fate.
the thrill of cutting down countless monsters, whose death has no consequence, excites us.
face it. we've wanted out since we were born. zeds are our excuse.

I know there's a Free-Roam freeware game called Survival Crisis Z. Maybe you could add it to the bottom of the website. It's on the bottom of skasoftware.com along with Zombie Smasher and Zomberman. Personally, I think Survival Crisis Z is the best game I have ever played. Well, freeware and flash games-wise.

I agree with D.A.N.C.E; let's not trot out our individual theories as indisputable "fact", and thus trample on other theories.
Reanimated corpses are a huge bit of lore regarding zombies, and I think it's premature to toss it all out the window just yet. While a Rage type virus seems a more plausible scenario, I think almost nothing is impossible.

I agree with what ForsakenTheDay says, it also fits better with the classic zombie, they don't see well but can sense humans far away. Maybe zombies can sense human hormones? We can do that without knowing it, the zombies brains are less complicated so they might be able to do this...

My weapons will be:
Ak-47: powerful, large magazine capacity, accurate enough to hit skinjobs in head at 100 yds, and most importantly extremely reliable. Carry about 6 magazines with me.
Winchester 1300 ranger compact: 24in barrel, very short stroke distance, speed pump, 9+1 mag cap with extension, 12ga, 10 rounds in under 3-4 seconds with a pump is really good.
Glock .45: itsa glock, the ak of the pistol world, reliable, high mag cap.

hello has anyone used a sweedish fire steel they work great i used in -12 c and it was snowing i got a fire going in like 2 strikes. plus they are so durable .also meya dust in condums is great to use with them.

Probably one of the best places to go in an ought break would be prison. Yes you would be in there with rapists and killers.. But a prison is designed to keep people in, And out. Unlike schools, Malls, Wal-Mart ect. Prisons will be filled with a specific amount of people to start with. Alcatraz would be the best place to go in my opinion... Because its a mega fort on an island. On Alcatraz food wouldn't be much of a problem if you had fishing poles. It iis now a tourist trap so i am willing to bet there is running fresh water and power.

“MOST” prisons in the Americas and Europe aren’t an issue, though some of the older Euro sites may be contaminated (ehem, East German “reeducations centers” and NAZI-Era Concentration camps), and some sites in Asia (ehem, Chinese “reeducations centers”). The site considered should be fully inspected soonest possible before too much consideration is given.
Practical Advice: Observe the site today. Visualize a way to break in (convicts actually break into prison all the time, usually the same way they broke out so as to be accounted for at bed check, and get a few hours of liberty in violation of their sentence). However, even the relatively good countries (The US/UK, West German-era sites, France, Japan, on and on) do have some sites that are, to one degree or another, unsuitable.

i say shoes are useless after the zombies come
i have a pair of carolina loggers that are steel toe steel shank and are not that heavy
after breaking them in i suggest doing daily running in them to train and get used to quick movement in them

there is another game like that being made by a guy on undeadgames.com. Its called rising of the dead. It has an infection system, barricade system to make your own safehouse,and other things. Its currently in the developement stages though and the guy had to evacuate from one of the hurricanes so it has some delays right now.

Uh...yeah, this may not be the best place to look for immediate aid. I suggest you restrain your friend and call the police/emergency services, and be sure to fill them in on all that took place. But definetly restrain your friend REALLY well.

My friend was working with a vial of R7-95. (liquid form)
He broke the vial and cut himself. He is acting erratically, grinding his teeth, and complaining of constant thirstiness. My question is: is R7-95 still a viable zombie pathogen? I heard the C.I.A. neutralized. If not what should I do if my friend bights me? Can somebody in the San Francisco area help? I would be glad to meet if you can.

How could this be good?!? If we were to keep the memories and knowledge there would still be the racism and everything else that stems from differentiation. World population would die out within a couple of years for several reasons, zombies rot (maybe not fast, but they do). Zombies do not have the ability to reproduce, they are sterile.
Another thing, if you have forgotten, the definition of a zombie is an undead creature that has no mental capacity, "rage zombies" are actually just virally infected humans.

I will probably go find a field build a huge house [terrible but BIG], then go find survivors, take them back to my 1 big house and then build them houses, build new government and military force, then we will take back the land that was the USA, and last will make a new country and call it the Z-Day Veteran Survivor Settlement.
