This is a place for everyone to post what they believe to be good deals they've found on the internet.
Its great to find a good deal and even better when you can pass that info on to your friends. http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/2276.php I believe this rifle kit is a good deal. Its a complete AR-15 midlength w/ adjustable stock, flat top upper and a stainless .223 Wylde barrel. $499.99 plus shipping and handling. All you have to provide is a stripped lower. Feel free to share links and info on other kinds of survival gear and weapons you've found.

If you're new to the site and haven't introduced yourself, go ahead and do so here!
We're all members here for the same reasons - we all love zombie movies and wonder, "What will happen if it really did happen? What would I do? Is my family safe?" That's what the site is all about. Contained within is a wealth of survival skills and preparedness knowledge, as well as product reviews and gear ideas from seasoned survival-types. There's also a lot of lighthearted discussions and what-if scenarios to wrap your brain around. If you have any questions, feel free to open up a new thread and ask the crew. Don't mind some of the grouchier members here; we can't figure out what's wrong with them, but we theorize that they either smoked too much or were dropped as infants! However, most people here are very friendly and understanding that the new folks don't yet know the ropes, and will be more than happy to point you in the right direction. If anyone harasses you (we've had some problems with that) let me or another moderator/administrator know - we're more than happy to set things straight. It would definitely benefit you to check out the site and get to know your way around, but the content inside the Administration and Moderation Articles section on the left is especially important. There are a few "newbie" guides, our Code of Conduct, and information about the ZSDW staff members. Most of the content on our site is oriented towards adult-aged users, but that doesn't mean horseplay isn't allowed... just be mindful of others' feelings when you post and you'll be fine! Please fill out your profile if you haven't done so. We'd love to learn more about you! Send me a PM if you need any help putting it together, I'm more than happy to help out. BTW - I'm Jon. Nice to meet you. Thanks again for joining the site!

Check it out, tell me what you think. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask, as this may remind me of notes that I need to add to the article. Here's the address to their website. Check 'em out, especially if you've never heard about them and are in the market for a new IWB holster. Take a minute and browse around --- http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/ --- Here's the address to their assemble-at-home "Stage 3" version of the same holster I reviewed. It is a complete unit, you just have to put it together yourself. No cutting, trimming, drilling or tapping required. There's a pretty large selection of handguns to pick from, also. --- http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/gun-holster-stage-3-forward-cant/ ---

So we all obviously look at survival differently. Some of us are Dog Eat Dog and some look at it as another form of insurance.
It's through seeing things through new lenses that we learn more about the nuances of a particular view and ours. So share yours. Mine is simple. It's insurance against the nastiness of an unleashed human animal. By learning certain skills I put yet another barrier between me and mine and the societal muck that will be more commonplace. The more ways I learn to get food the harder it will be to get to that time when I'll need to choose between morals (which are deeply rooted to me) and my life and the lives of me and mine. The more places I can make safer the harder it is to put us on the road at the mercy of the elements. The more little skills I can pick up the more I can depend on me and less on the kindness of strangers. It is insurance at its basic level.

Every site member, regardless of age (provided they are old enough to participate), gender, race, ethnic background, religious preference and political affiliation is entitled to their own opinion here at the ZSDW. Under no circumstances is it appropriate to belittle their opinion or call them names. Period.
Over the last month or so, as a blind experiment, the ZSDW staff and I allowed a series of political threads to remain open despite our well-known policy regarding the topic. I believed - no, I hoped - that our community had progressed to a point where these discussions could take place without mudslinging and name-calling. Personally, I attempted to guide each thread quietly via "leading by example." I made a point to politely post my position and share what I know about the topic, all while respecting the positions of those who differ from mine. For the most part, everyone respectfully stated their piece and moved on... exactly what should happen in a discussion on politics. However, a few people were unable to play nicely. These participants created a hostile environment for those whose opinions differed from their own, used bullying tactics to belittle the opposition, and in effect spoiled the discussions for everyone involved. Each discussion degenerated into mindless simian chest-thumping. No offense, just calling it as I see it. That said, these members aren't entirely to blame, as we anticipated this outcome from the onset. Until further notice and review, discussions of a political nature are suspended. The community is, by all measure, unprepared for these topics. While I respect each of your's ability to express yourselves how you wish, these threads create rifts in our community. It causes good people to leave the site and dissuades those who share their beliefs from openly sharing them -- defeating the purpose of a community contribution wiki. ~LJ126

You may note that at 0:59, a TX "30.06" sign is in place. TX CHL holders know this sign well - it's the sign that makes your entry with a concealed weapon into a crime. Notice how effective that sign was at stopping the Active Shooter in this video... but it does ensure that no lawfully armed Texans are in that facility. Enjoy the video! I believe it's spot on.

There seems to be a decided lack of information regarding radio communications on here. If you have any questions regarding CB, HAM, 2-Meter, Military, Police, Walkie-Talkies, etc please post them here. If I don't know it, I guarantee my buddy GatorGar does. We're both huge amateur radio nuts.

The ZSDW staff takes a strong stance against unapproved solicitation. This policy exists to prevent the threads from being taken over by spam. Some of these links could be malicious and harmful. The reason we have an approval process is so that we can screen individual sites to ensure that they are not harmful and are on-topic and of interest to our user base.
If your account posts a link to a separate website every single time you post, your account will be permanently banned. If your first post consists of little more than a link and advertisement to another website, you will be banned until the staff can review your individual case. I advise everyone to re-familiarize themselves with the ZSDW's Internet Security Survival Guide, written by DevilNuts some time ago. it outlines how to protect yourself on the internet. If there is an unknown link or URL posted to the site, you follow it at your own risk. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Internet+Security+Survival+Guide Any questions can be forwarded to me or any other member of the ZSDW staff. ~Jon (LJ126) |

| LJ126 | How to Properly Title a New Thread (and Other Posting Tips) | 15 | Mar 23 2012, 3:05 AM EDT by nissassa | ||||

After taking a quick glance through the latest threads being discussed in the 'Updates' tab, it has become painfully obvious that most of the threads being discussed are inadequately titled. Many of these titles lack direction, they're often misspelled and improperly punctuated, and a lot of the time, they provide no indication as to the topic of the posts contained within the thread. Since the title that is assigned by the OP is the one under which the whole thread is assigned - it cannot be changed - it needs to be carefully chosen because it is the first part of the thread people see.
Here's a few tips for choosing a title: - Choose a title that reflects the content of the thread that you're posting. It's nice to know what you're getting into before you get there! - Check the spelling of your subject title before hitting that little grayish-pink "Post" button. Nothing says "I'm retarded" like a poorly spelled title. - If you want people to take the time to read (and respond) to your thread, take the time to dot your I's and cross your T's. PROOFREADING should be performed before you hit the previously-described "Post" button. - Proper punctuation and capitalization are good things! Feel free to use them in your titles too. Nobody expects perfection - we're not giving you a grade and we're not going to assign you homework. However, if you expect us to treat you like an intelligent member of the ZSDW, you must SHOW US that you're an intelligent member of the ZSDW. An extra minute or two of editing can change a poor post into an excellent one, and excellent posts (and the person who posts them) get noticed.
