Your heart
May 30 2009, 8:00 PM EDT
If you are able to pull the trigger on a human being, and then as you try to go to sleep, you think about that person, and what they had, and you are able to mourn for them... and if forced to, you are able to kill again, but always mourn for those that die at your hands, then I believe that you will be able to come to terms with what you are forced to do to survivue.Nobody is ready for something like that, nobody is ready to imagine the unimaginable, and the people that are forced to do the unimaginable, or are forced to live the unimaginable life will do one of several things. Suicide Drugs Lose their touch with reality love it. Be human. The only thing you can hope for, is that when the unimaginable happens, that by you having asked yourself, if I really had to, could I, and your answer is yes; but at a great personal cost. Then I believe that you will survive with your humanity intact. For if you survive, but without your humanity, then what are you but just another zombie? If you cant understand these ramblings, then don't... Only ask yourself, if it comes down to it, and I am forced to, what will happen after I have done so? After I have killed my first? And my second? After your name could be written as an equal to Hitler, or Stalin, will you be able to live with yourself, not as an "yeah! I got to kill stuff and it rocked" but as "these were their names... remember them, for they had no choice." Do you find this valuable?

As far as I am concerned, a person dies when they become a zombie, for they no longer are the person they were. I'll feel sad for all of the people who became zombies, but I do not believe I will feel guilty for killing zombies. If I have to kill a person(a non-zombie), it's because they are evil and trying to kill me. I guess I'll just sew the H Hat onto my scalp. Do you find this valuable? |

Young soldiers and marines have to deal with this everyday, and for a war that half of them don't even believe in... but rest assured that when they are under fire and feel their life and the life of their battle buddies are at stake you return fire without hesitation.

"I guess I'll just sew the H Hat onto my scalp."Ooh, can I get one of those in blue? Too damn right. Zombies have to be killed to allow survival. They are not people. They are not even animals. They are targets that must be eliminated., or they will kill you and those around you. And if humans have to go the same way for the same reason, so be it. Anyone who asks for help will be given it where possible. Anyone who threatens my survival, has to go. Do you find this valuable? |

I'm assuming your talking about killing raiders. I'd hope I could reason with people and bluff them out without ever having to kill a single person. Wyatt Earp was the most famous law man in the old west. Do you know how many people he killed before the shootout at the OK corral. One, just one. He sure as hell pistol whipped the shit out of some cowboys but he only shot and killed one.I'll follow his example until I have no choice then I'll strike hard and strike fast without mercy and never look back. You'd go insane if you did. No room for emos post Z-Day. Do you find this valuable? |

Andrew...Who lit your man tampon? "Being Emo while posting" isn't a NetKrime.. Not here, yet.. When it is time to pull trigger, your crying whining pitiful ass, you better be more prepared than your OP indicates. Else you'll find yourself give a valueless arm, one round, and left behind. FEO has no time for folks whose minds are clouded by bullshit while on patrol, working outside wire. If you can't handle zapping Aunt Gertrude, let your Teammates handle it, you go home and wash dishes. SnC *MercilessBastard* Do you find this valuable? |

"You are not emo if you mourn for those you killed.....when you "take out" Auntie Gertrude's ZOMBIE, what was left of her is gone to the virus that killed her before you finally stopped the infection... Mourning and sorrow are emotions disallowed for warriors. You do that shit in private and off the fields of fire. *I* catch you whining and crying over taking out Mumsie and Daddykins all the time those Undead Again are trying their best to take out Teammates and friends, I may leave you to your fate with them. In a time of work, no man or woman has time to keep their attentions elsewhere than on the job that brings them home ALIVE. When, and ONLY when, you are safe, those around you are secure, and you are alone and away from affecting those with you, do you dare allow sallow emotives flow. If you can't do that, then stay home and diaper babies and clean up after Zhund puppers. Stay well away from me and mine. Work that requires quick, often painful, lifetaking decisions is no place for emo. SnC *HeartlessBastard* :edit, spelling 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"..when you "take out" Auntie Gertrude's ZOMBIE, what was left of her is gone to the virus that killed her before you finally stopped the infection...Remember - your loved ones are dead, and a zombie has replaced them. That zombie wants to kill you. DEATH TO ZOMBIE. THE BLACK KNIGHT ALWAYS TRIUMPHS! Do you find this valuable? |

"Please don't toss this kid into the "warrior" category with me. It's embarrassing. AN - You do what you have to. It's sad, it's horrible, whatever. You don't sit around and boohoo everybody with your emo nonsense. Part of what holds everybody together in a difficult time is how those around you conduct themselves. If you always show courage, poise and bearing then your fellow survivors are more likely to keep their heads glued on straight and perform well. It's called "morale." If you let them see you fall apart, they will fall apart and they will NOT have your back when you need them to. Plus none of the 'real' men will ever respect you if you are a blubbering emo bitch kid. Stoicism is probably the most common characteristic shared by all of our favorite heroes. There is a good reason for that. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I am not saying you don't do what you need to do, what I am saying is, remember the people you kill, or what their past lives were, for that is where your humanity lies. You don't have to cry over them, or beat yourself up for them, but try and do your best to at least remember who they were, or could have been. If your team at least knows that they will be remembered if they die, and that it will not just be a heartless shot to the head, then let that be a small comfort to them. What I am talking about is not crying over anyones death, but recognize that they WERE people. Like I said, you don't have to be an unfeeling bastard. Heroes, well, Heroes are the ones that sacrifice themselves for everyone else, Heroes are the ones that die fast. If it comes down try not to be a hero. But that is a topic for a different thread entirely. Do you find this valuable? |

You don't have to be an unfeeling bastard, but it would benefit your entire group greatly if you pretend to be one. Besides, if you give a name and story to every zombie you decapitate, it is only going to make the job that much harder. Consider them roaches. Smash their heads and throw them in a hole. You don't need to know their names or hold a funeral for them. Deal with it as quickly as possible, and try not to think about the unpleasant task you are at. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. You think far too much Andrew.Time to do this kind of introspective shit is when you are training, after training, after Work, after you come home alive and intact. This kind of emotive bullshit will get you made DEAD, and many around you while you are setting the active, angry part of your mind off what is tasked you. If you cannot separate the Job and whatever flower powered reality you want to live in, your job will involve spuds, a sharp knife and whats for dinner. Stay home, stay behind the walls in relative safety. Do_not_ever_consider_moving_out_with_the_Angry_ Young_Warriors who have no problem killing Zombie Gertrude and UnkleZed.. DN: You may say Zs are roaches, but then I remember you moralising about making purposeful experiments on the undead, I do find your attitude bit ambivalent. You big warrior, you.Andrew, I think your "issue" becomes a "problem" since you base your assumption on the wrong premises. What says that mourning makes us human, or that what we call "being human" has anything to do with our true nature? Face it, we are only animals and history proves it. Some weeks ago scientists even found that contemporary indian tribes in the amazonas are burying their infants alive. Dont think we are any different than them. We humans can change our values, but not our nature. You need to realise that every person on this planet including you is born to stuggle for its own and never give in, until death- its the biological code (guess its different for women...). I think thats what the "warriors" have come to terms with. Its your nature and no one will judge you. There are really no morals to talk about. If you are religious, you may not buy this but a famous person once said something like " god gave you but one heart, its not meant to be the home of your brother" Its not only your right to slay Zs without hesitation or mourning, but nature demands it of you. Always obey nature. That does not mean you can not have values, but you have a right to choose whatever values you like. To mourn zombies or looters?-c´mon man, funk dat! ;-) Do you find this valuable? |
