Bodybags - why are the four people seeking out a densely populated area in the first place?? Not very logical.

A ball bat, a concealed handgun, a pocket knife, a canteen/hydration pack, and an empty duffle bag for each person. The only reasons I'd go into a dense suburban or urban area is to get a friend or family member, or to scavenge. Even then, I'd prefer anywhere else to get supplies. Food could probably be found in any car in the gridlocked streets. Water, the same thing. Weapons, you want to be quiet whenever possible, with a backup firearm incase something goes down. Keep the entire setup as light and inconspicuous as possible. There is the possibility of some gang-banger or desperate survivor taking the first chance they get to take out a couple guys in camo with assault rifles for their gear. Being light on your feet in a dense concrete jungle is somewhat self explanatory. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

thanks for your input whybother08 and lj126 yes i do agree with what both of yee have to say and i do agree i intend to use for body bags for other people (if it comes to it ) its incredibly stupid but my parents and best freind both live in town luckly in the same estate only a few houses apart as i live in what some would consider the country (3 miles outside town) i live with my girlfreind and 2 other freinds i dont feel comfortable leaving my parents there to die but when it goes down ya never know what happens both my 3 freinds and my dad are always doing a bit of shooting my girlfreind not so much :L she thinks a .22 mag rifle has a big recoil :( so any way i guess i should of described the town as having around 200 population wise and the plan is for my other freind to hold down the fort until we can get there of course the i deal would be to get them out of the town before the SHTF but nothing ever goes exactly to plan and dont expect it ever will 0 out of 1 found this valuable. 2 pair Binoculars to scout ahead, 4 camelpaks since you need water and if you have to run its good to have on you, 2 bats alluminum for quiet take downs of individual zombies, 2 cross bows or bow and arrow sets to take out small number groups and not attract attention, 4 .22 calibur m4 carbines with 6 mags each since they are light to carry and have enough rounds to take out dozens of zombies in a quick hurry, 4 9 mil. pistols on leg strap holsters with 3 clips to use just in case your out of ammo from the m4 and your in a ****** situation and o yeah 4 sets of night vision gogles just to travel at night and not be seen by the enemy and 4 small first aid kits for just in casewell thats what i would take for a recon mission but if i was doing a scavenging mission id bring a truck or van leave it outside of the town and go by foot with 3 or 4 ruck sacks 2 out of 2 found this valuable. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Scrounger+Training:+Scrounger+GearLook here, good info Personally, I would go with pistols (hopefully chambered in the same calibre) a larger high powered semi-auto rifle as the "one" gun, and either pistol cal. carbines in same cal. as the pistol or .22 semi-auto rifles with high cap mags as the "two" guns 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "2 pair Binoculars to scout ahead *clip*"Let me ring that up for a pre-z preparation. I'll give you the lowest possible costs from my estimates/research. 2 pairs of decent binocs: $50-100 each. 4 Camelbak packs: ~$60 each. This is a bare-bones water carrier and bladder. 2 bats: Meh, you could probably find some used for a couple of bucks. 2 bows/Xbows: $200-300 each, plus arrow costs. 4 .22LR AR-15-style rifles: ~$500 each, not including mag and ammo costs. I used the S&W M&P-15-22 for the purpose of this. 4 good quality 9mm handguns: $400-600 each, not including mag, ammo, and holster costs. 4 NVG: This is kind of a weird zone, because the costs can vary dramatically, but ones with any quality are easily over $1000 a piece. Calculated down, the cost of this entire setup is a whopping $9178. Quite literally Over 9000. Or, $2294 if you split the cost between the four group members. I did this with 6 M&P-22 mags a person (in the $400s), 1000 rounds of .22 ($40), 3 Glock 17 mags per person (in the $300s), and 50 rounds per person ($40 total). One could argue that each person could accumulate this much gear themselves, individually, or loot it, but still...Finding specific gear or expecting people to have it is a bit out of the realm of reality. One thing is you could replace multi-thousand NVGs for a couple of flashlights that you probably have lying around your house. Oh, and are people carrying a rifle, pistol, and an archery piece? Seems a bit sluggish to me. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I agree with LJ and WB; going into the city probably wouldn't be the best option. That being said, here's what I would take (note: this is my opinion only, not trying to influence anybody really.): 2 people carrying 12 gauge shotguns, preferably either Mossberg 500s or NEF Pardner Pumps. Loud, yes, but good if you are backed into a corner. 1 person with a .22 semi-automatic rifle, namely either a Marlin Model 60 or Ruger 10/22. Both are pretty cheap, and known for reliability. If possible, look for heavy-bulleted, subsonic rounds. Although I'm not sure whether or not they'd be effective in the situation, some testing beforehand would show. Finally, have one person with with a crossbow. Provided they've practiced with it, it should be useful for solitary threats. Sidearms for all of them would be a .38 or .357 revolver. They are common and can be bought cheaply, yet can definitely do the job. Also, stuff like a knife, a few empty bags, etc. would be essential. Also, some water never hurt anyone. All this stuff can be gotten pretty cheaply, especially before the SHTF. Hope I helped :) Do you find this valuable? |
