Why do you believe in Zombies?

As the title says, Why do you believe in Zombies? Do you have any proof or could we just as well wait for the arrival of Superman? Do you find this valuable?

I don't believe in zombies. They're just fun to talk about.

Also, I think most folks here just use them as a general survival metaphor. Do you find this valuable?

Pretty much its just fun way to prepare for real disasters that wil actually happen. Do you find this valuable?

There are a number of pathogens that create a zombie-like pattern of behavior in animals and humans. But these are almost always fairly lethal in the short term. So no, I don't believe in horror movie zombies.

What I do believe is that civilization is fragile. In the event of a widespread disaster of some kind that interrupts civil order, it is good to have thought these things out in advance. Being self-sufficient, even in part, is never a bad thing. Speculation on a zombie epidemic covers a lot of survival issues in one package; breakdown of civil order, feeding yourself, generating power, seeking shelter when displaced, medical issues, being a help to others rather than a burden, dealing with looters, rebuilding in the absence of support. Some of our speculations are even useful without the End Of The World As We Know It happening.

And zombie movies are fun. Do you find this valuable?

In short term- no.

The longer format- I believe they are a possibility, although a very minute one. I generally believe that other events to cause a catastrophic fall of mankind are more likely however. Do you find this valuable?

I believe in survival. Adding zombies to it just makes it more fun. But zombies don't currently exsist. Not to our knowledge anyway. Do you find this valuable?

I don't believe in zombies, but they are a fun way to prepare for an apocalyptic survival situation, especially one centered around some sort of pandemic. Do you find this valuable?

I highly doubt zombies are even possible (the rotter types at least), as already mentioned, it just a fun thing to talk about as most of us prepare for a general type of disaster. Somewhere here on the forums i read a post that mentioned "if you prepare for a zombie outbreak, you are prepared for any type of disaster." Do you find this valuable?

While I may not believe in the zombies shown in horror movies, I do believe that there are people out there working on biological weapons. It isn't beyond human imagination that, if given the right chems and insane mindset, that someone could possibly be capable of designing one that could bring the dead back to life with only their most basic instincts.

Also, not to get into a religion thing with anyone, but my old man made a joke between me, my younger brother, and him when the preacher said that 'The dead will rise and claim the Earth.'

He said silently to us, "Yeah. And when that happens, you two are gonna be out there kicking ass and taking names." Do you find this valuable?

I don;t think anyone here genuinely believes in zombies. It's just a fun metaphor for the end of society. Do you find this valuable?

Wow . . . I've seen, like, five of these threads in the past few weeks . . . Quoting a bunch of people here: "The search bar is our friend."

But I agree with the general population. Zombies are fun to talk about, but are highly unlikely, and I don't think any sane person would want them to come knockin' at our front doors (While fun to talk about, a zombie apocalypse would be a living, breathing nightmare that would drive most of us insane). Do you find this valuable?

Scientifically, it doesn't take much mutation to give us a virus that could result in a 28 Days Later-style zombie virus. Of course, scientifically it's such a small chance that nobody will likely be alive to see it. Do you find this valuable?

As many of the others stated I dont think anyone really believes in zombies, but rather are survivalist and use the idea of zombies as a fun way to prepare. Though I did hear a story of some sort of drink used in Hati way back in the day that turned people into a zombie like state for prolonged periods of time to work on the plantations...... Do you find this valuable?

I look at zombies the same way I look at Yvonne Strahovski. I'd love to use my rifle on both of them, but it isn't gonna happen. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
